Over a hundred years ago, Blyth had a lot of windmills. I did this stylised one from a black and white photo of a 19th century pencil drawing. I like working like that – it gives my imagination plenty to play with.

This stencil was created in early 2008 inspired by fashion photography and damp cold London. Recently cut stencil with one layer from an older stencil of a zebra in pink on her dress, with hand drawn cobbled stones. The canvas itself is 3 times in length this is just a mere snap shot of the original piece. This piece is 1 of 3, utilising the same same stencil and composition of works I’ve posted on Red Bubble at the moment. The other is ‘snow and umbrella’ and ‘rain birds’

The city of Norwich, in the U.K., is a very old city, apparently granted city status in the year 1194. The cobblestones in this shot probably don’t quite date back to that time, but are still old compared to the double yellow lines that have been painted over them! Taken with a Canon EOS 450D. In 299 B.C. Narni became a Roman colony named Narnia, and in 233 B.C. it became an important fort for the construction of the “Flaminia Road”. The Chronicle of Narnia Narni in the last years has acquired major fame thanks to the fantasy best-seller “The Chronicle of Narnia”. The author C.S. Lewis gave probably this title to his work finding inspiration from his knowledge of Latin literature. But the writer stayed in the Italian town and his biographers report that in author’s atlas the name Narni is underlined. In addition, in his writings can be found elements connected to some symbols of the town such as the griffin, the stone lion and the ancient sacrificial stone. Perhaps the Kingdom of Narnia is here…

The picture is of Albert Street in Dawlish, which is the last Cobblestone street in the town. / Shot in colour, and converted to B&W, which gives it more character. Featured in Cottage Style / Featured in “Old Things – 3 per Day” We recently visited some dear friends who were living in Painswick, Gloucestershire, in England. Originally from America, they have lived in England for short periods of time (3 or 4 years) due to work. This was our last visit to their little cottage home in the lovely village, as they have now moved back to the states, but they are already planning to move back as soon as possible. We have enjoyed our frequent trips to visit them and this lovely old cottage. The cottage dates back almost 300 years (sometime in the 1700’s) and is a feature of the well known Tibbiwell Lane. It is as beautiful inside as it is outside. This door front scene was used as a magazine/catalogue cover for the company Scotts of Stow, and countless visitors to the village have taken photos of this beautiful and historic home. The property used to be two separate cottages but were combined at some unknown date. Please do click on the photo to view larger and please enjoy. This is a HDR image combining 6 bracketed shots using Photomatix Pro for Macs. Slight adjustments in lighting and tone were done using the enhanced details tool. Under the High Level Bridge in Newcastle, there are these wonderful arched supports creating light tunnels which is reflected on these wonderful cobbles. Converted into black and white and best viewed large.
