The Common Spadefoot Toad is found throughout the drier regions of western Victoria, New South Wales, southern Queensland, and pockets of South Australia in Australia. It is a burrowing frog and remains buried for much of its life, only becoming active after rains. This photo was taken after heavy rains about 60kms north of Cobar, where we were then subsequently stranded for two days! But, then the burrowing frogs started to ‘pop’ out of the ground, so it was very exciting! Click on ‘View Larger’ for better viewing.
