Heavy clouds gathering over a lonely Apostle near Gibsons Steps (Port Campbell Victoria) These giant limestone stacks are the remainders of what was once the rugged Victorian coastline, which eroded due to continuous sea waves and wind over thousands of years. This chain of limestone stacks was originally called ‘Sow and the Piglets’ with the Muttonbird Island near Loch Ard Gorge being the sow. The Twelve Apostles was officially adopted as its name in 1950s even though there have never been distinctively identifiable 12 limestone stacks. With the collapse of one Apostle in 2005, only 8 Apostles remained at the moment.

An 8×10 inch acrylic painting on canvas of a Pandanus hidden away in a secluded beach cove. These trees are one of the iconic tree species of the / Australian NSW Northern coastline. They grow on exposed coastal headlands. Pandanus is a genus of over 600 species worldwide with approximately 30 occuring in Australia in tropical and sub-tropical areas. The first line of defence is the offshore reefs. / Then next are these offshore rocky islets to take the oomph out of what is left. / This day the most impressive explosions were from the ones not quite big enough to break on the offshore reef ,and therefore they marched into these rocky outcrops still bearing their full force and power that had driven them across a thousand miles of Southern Ocean. / West Point, Marrawah / NW Tasmania.
