A set of images that i took on the ferry crossing between the North and South Island, New Zealand. I shot them for the cloud pattern, not worth much on there own, but chopped up and re alined with a dry brush effect in PhotoShop has made them worth showing. Shot along the west heads of Tory Channel after a very rough crossing, all calm in the sounds. shot on a Nikon D700 wit 24-85mm Nikkor lens, and manipulated in PhotoShop.

So quiet, so calm, settling in for the evening roost, warmth together, because i’m using a 17 lens on a full frame chip sensor these gulls look a few meters away, they are right next to me and they weren’t fazed by be being there. As the sun dips lower a soft pink hue grips the clouds like the last breath of Angels retiring for the night, check out “Weathered by time” the same spot about ten mins earlier, the clouds are still white. / I’m knee deep in the sea with my trusty fishing waders. The light evening and night was so even, at least 70% of my images need very little work. Just one ND filter to tone down the sky.
