Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps
Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.

This is an acrylic canvas painting 20” wide x 23” long of Australian Pelicans. Pelicans are beautiful large Black and White water birds. They have very long beaks that have a small hook on the end and a stretching pouch underneath. There are 7 species of Pelicans in the world. Pelicans fly just above the water’s surface in long lines and never dive. Growing up as a child I can remember my Grandfather singing to us…. “Oh a wonderous bird is the Pelican his beak holds more than his belican!” This was painted as a birthday present for a friend of mine who is turning 50 this weekend and her favourite bird is a Pelican. A very loose watercolour using minimal detail and bright colours for a group challenge, 20cm x 28cm on 300gsm canson paper. The main aim of this challenge is for a soft focus result with no hard edges. The sea was calling as the sun glowed / All lit up it was time for the show / Fire in the sky, my boat sailed on / Once in a lifetime to enjoy until gone…. by L.Callaghan Had to dig deep in the imagination for this one.

These two seastacks just south of Haystack rock are known as the “Haystack Needles.” This picture was taken just as the sun dipped beneath the horizon. As the tide retreated and left a thin layer of water, I was able to capture this reflection in the beach. Cannon Beach, a city in Clatsop County, Oregon, United States, is an tourist resort destination, popular in Pacific Northwest located on highway 101. In 1846, a cannon from the US Navy schooner Shark washed ashore just north of Arch Cape, a few miles to the south of Elk Creek, the current Cannon Beach. The schooner was wrecked while attempting to cross the Columbia Bar, also known as the “Graveyard of the Pacific” because of the danger of the bar. The beach was renamed “Cannon Beach.”
An acrylic painting on canvas 60cm x 30cm of the sun setting over the shadowed land. Night is approaching and the sun paints the sky with its sizzling rays in protest of its retreat. A painted memory of a romantic sunset. The sun is setting over the hill / the air is calm the night is still / It paints the sky with its sizzling rays / it retreats for the night until the next day….. Linda This was my first painting done on an easel my husband built for me. Featured in: MORNINGS AND EVENINGS, SUNSETS AND STORMS / MATURE WOMAN
