Rock formations at low tide. Taken with my 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. This is a 82mm lens and I am currently using Cokin Filters (handheld).....uuuuurrgh. I am very keen to get a Lee Neutral Density Filter set. If you have this setup I would be very interested to hear from you what experiences you have made in regards to vignetting and what Lee components you have mounted on your lens. Thanks heaps
Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.

The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site
Taken in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Every other tree on this stretch of coastline was a green palm, this was only the exception and I couldn’t resist it. See my video on YouTube

Elephant Rocks, William Bay National Park, Western Australia (near Denmark) This national park is one of my favourite places on Earth. I was lucky to visit recently with my sister, climbing around the rocks and beaches for hours. Only we had to share it with a few snakes that were making the most of the spring sunshine! Haunt of the Fringe Dwellers © / Vicki Ferrari Photography This was taken on the Gold Coast in QLD, Australia at the Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area, between the board walk (the lake) and the walking path. / I was pretty “chuffed” because I received the highly commended award in the Native Plants Category, in October 2008, in the / Gold Coast City Council Natural Environment Photography Competition, . / The tree itself is a SHEOAK and it is called a fringe dweller because it grows in between the wet and the dry! This is an acrylic canvas painting 20” wide x 23” long of Australian Pelicans. Pelicans are beautiful large Black and White water birds. They have very long beaks that have a small hook on the end and a stretching pouch underneath. There are 7 species of Pelicans in the world. Pelicans fly just above the water’s surface in long lines and never dive. Growing up as a child I can remember my Grandfather singing to us…. “Oh a wonderous bird is the Pelican his beak holds more than his belican!” This was painted as a birthday present for a friend of mine who is turning 50 this weekend and her favourite bird is a Pelican. Coastal Mantra Series- Flying Meditation has been nominated for the prestigious Pay it Forward Group by Kellie Cranmer of Kcranmer Art Kellies quote to the group in submitting this image was: ”I chose this image because of the simple beauty it brings. PLEASE VIEW LARGE.. !! This was taken early in the morning as we arrived for our journey to the Elephant Seal area. Mists and light and Peace. Taken in the Año Nuevo SNR State Natural Reserve Northern California / ELEPHANT SEAL AFTERNOON I have used this form of morning meditation for quite some time and feel the ease of this practice and results in a more generous day with better focus. This is a meditation to begin the day. In a seated pose, focus on your breath. Cultivate a steady, relaxed breath. Then ask yourself: What is my intention today? After posing the question, rest your attention on the out-breath. This creates a spaciousness of attention on the in-breath. There is no direction for the in-breath. Do not get carried away by thinking, but also do no tightly control the attention. Continue to notice each out breath. Sit until you are struck by a clarity of intention. It comes not by chasing it down with thinking, but by stilling the mind and creating space. It may take a few minutes, or much longer. If no specific intention announces itself to you, simply commit to acting ethically and with mindfulness. That is certainly an intention that we can all practice each day. This meditation seems simple, and it is simple. It’s power lies in its ability to help us act intentionally throughout the day. If you practice this meditation each morning, you will find yourself more ‘awake’ behind the wheel of your life*.
While walking down at La Jolla Harbor area, I came across this little guy. He stopped stuffing his face full of corn kernals and sunflower seeds as if to beg for more food. An acrylic painting on canvas 60cm x 30cm of the sun setting over the shadowed land. Night is approaching and the sun paints the sky with its sizzling rays in protest of its retreat. A painted memory of a romantic sunset. The sun is setting over the hill / the air is calm the night is still / It paints the sky with its sizzling rays / it retreats for the night until the next day…..
