  • Shot at Plimmerton Beach, New Zealand, massive storm approaching the North Island. Shot on a Nikon D700 with a AF-S Nikkor 17-35mm 1:2.8D / Dock of the Bay / Chocolate Coffee Sticks / Last Post

  • Shot at Pukerua Bay, view towards Kapiti Island, weather closing in with a strong Nor wester blowing on shore, the clouds were moving so fast the sky changed every couple of seconds. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35 Nikkor Lens Other work in this series / Pukerua Bay Backwash / Tern Haven / Kapiti Footspar / Pukerua Bay Stormscape / Peach and Lilac Melba / Barier Rock / Lilac Storm

  • The Battle of Waterloo occured on the 18th June 1815 and marked the end of the French domination of Europe under Napoleon Bonaparte. It was a coalition of British, Russian, Austrian and Prussians under the leadership of The Duke of Wellington. Waterloo Bay was visited on the anniversary of this battle thus the current nomenclature. This picture was taken in the pre dawn light using a very long exposure from near Little Waterloo Bay looking along this incredibly ruggard coastline towards Cape Wellington. • Shot at Wainuiomata Beach on the rugged wild south coast of New Zealand’s North Island, these rocks are a favorite of mine, the seventh wave in the set is pure TNT. Five mins latter and its all over, once the sun clears the hill the light is too bright to shoot. look at the image below, taken half an hour earlier, the light is softer and warmer, now you can see how harsh the the light is once the sun starts to clear the hill. This was part of a mutual learning curve with Henk Stolk who I’m sure will never take another dry seascape again ;-) Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens / Wainui Rush

  • Found these warn limestone blocks in the North Bay at Kaikoura on New Zealand’s South Island, carved smooth by the sea in a very blocky pattern, very different to the other rocks I found which tended to be sharp like sharks teeth. I was facinated by these rocks, made several visits to them at different times of the day, they looked like the remains of a Lost Civilization. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND4 grad filter. / Mayan Blocks at Dusk

  • Two yachts race up the mouth of the Hunter River into Newcastle Harbour, New South Wales. The image was captured with a 6 MP Sony Cyber-Shot and then processed in Paint Shop Pro. I duplicated the original layer and applied a number of filters to it to make it resemble an impressionist painting. I then tweaked the tones to highlight certain parts of the scene.

  • Shot at Makara Beach, west coast of lower North Island, New Zealand, I need to go back to this location, the smooth pebbles in the foreground are like jelly beans, this will make a great low level shot. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND8 grad filter. / Got da Makara Blues / Jelly Bean Rumble at Dusk

  • Well, I could wax lyrical about this light for hour, the beauty was that the sun never got to break through, the clouds kept moving and kept the light subtle, without the cloud cover i’d be shooting straight into the sun and the image would be a right off. just stunning!!!!! Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Lens, Cokin ND4 soft grad, Raw files with Active D-Lighting on High.

  • The Starfish / Camera – Nikon D90 FEATURED IN – ‘The Grunge Art Gallery’

  • Shot at a new private jetty near the old wharf, north Bay at Kaikoura, last light of the day blazes away. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens, with Cokin ND8 grad filter. photomatrix and photoshop.

  • Misty surf over the rocks with the Ocean Beach pier in the back ground, San Diego, California. Canon 40 D

  • As I was growing up, my parents took us on trips up north in Wisconsin to a place called Door County. Door County is the peninsula at the north east side of the state. It’s filled with small harbor towns with names like Bailey’s Harbor, Fish Creek and Sister Bay. In the summer, each town with all it’s quaint shops was filled with visitors from all over the US. When we were there looking out on the vast expanse of Lake Michigan, it was hard to image it as a lake. If felt like the ocean to us…...and the towns reminded us of places we would read about in books on the east coast. / We had such wonderful times going there, but it was always just a visit. One week at the most. / I didn’t realize it at the time, but my mom had a dream. She wanted more than anything to live in Door County. She imagined a farm with a building that would house her Antiques and crafts to sell to the tourists. But my dad was not so keen on this idea. / When my dad passed away at the age of 64, I remember feeling very sad about his loss, but I never doubted that it all happened the way it did for a reason. He would have hated the process of getting really old. I know he wouldn’t have wanted to be a burden. So he went at the perfect time. All ten of his kids were out on their own and he was still able to work and keep busy. That day, when it was his time to go he had even swept the walk, one of his favorite tasks. I’m sure he was glad that he went after the walk was swept and not before. / A few years later my mom married a life long friend, a man who had always been a part of our family. / He never had children and he didn’t really have any family that he kept in touch with, so it was completely natural that we all became his family. I don’t think I realized the mastery of Gods Plan until I wrote the eulogy for my wonderful step dad. He was the one that was meant to make my moms dream come true. Together they found this sweet broken down farm and they lived there every summer for over 10 years. Even though the barn collapsed only a year after buying the place, I always saw it as lit from with in. There was a wonderful energy there. We all miss it more than we could say. But in looking through my photos I found this image of the barn, still standing. I’m not surprised that it turned out this way. With that shining light from with in. / I always let my heart guide me and for this, I am grateful!! /
