Location: / St. Margaret’s Bay, Kent, England Map: / Multimap Date and Time: / 27 January 2008, 7.40 a.m. Camera details: / ISO 200 : f/22 : 10 seconds : 18mm : Nikon D40 : Nikon 18-55mm lens Shot narrative: / The calm stillness of the water is offset against the crashing waves against the rocks. It was a cold day and the tide was far out meaning that parts of the beach that are usually cut off by the tide were accessable and I could walk a mile or so along the beach from the car park to reach this spot.

It managed to shield me from the gale force winds for a while if nothing else.

This little gem can be found just around the corner from Loch Ard Gorge near Port Campbell off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Australia. I came here the afternoon before and there were snap happy tourists everywhere but decided to come back the next morning and there wasn’t a soul in sight, just the crashing ocean to keep me company… Unfortunately as of early June 2009 this archway has collapsed leaving two apostles next to eachother. Warn limestone blocks in the North Bay at Kaikoura on New Zealand’s South Island, carved smooth by the sea. i shot this just as the dawn started, its very very calm, or so it seam, a wave had crashed in and rushed back, this is a 25 second exposure, chek out the gull on the rock to the right, it didn’t move! Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, ND 4 soft Grad, tripod with weighted bags. Featured in Dimensions – November 2009 / Featured in Light In The Darkness – August 2009 This one was taken on the 22nd of August 2009 from Elephant Rock at Currumbin beach – a sunrise no photograph can describe. Shot using a 450D with a Sigma 10-20 at 10mm. 3 shots – 13s, 2.5s and 1s exposures using F/22 and Iso 100. Exposure blending using Photomatix and processed in CS4. Big thanks to Stef Dunn for the loan of his Sigma lens for the day, and also to Shelley Warbrooke for doing a splendid job on keeping me awake for the drive! 1000+ views! / 50+ favourites! / My Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain.
