This is another case of right place right time. I normally check the tides to see where they will be at sunrise and sunset, but as my fiance and I were staying near Geelong for a few days, I didn’t bring a tide chart with me and so I had to take guesses as to where it would likely be. Anyway, at the last minute I decided to head down to Point Lonsdale to take a few shots of the lighthouse and to my delight the tide was out and slowly creeping in. By the time I finished shooting, I was walking through water to get back to the shore.

After shooting the early light of the morning down at Cape Schanck I thought I’d take a quick shot of the sun light reflecting off the large boulders in this little cove. I love the warm colours and shapes of wet boulders in the sun. If you ever go down to this place when the tied is high and the weather a little on the wild side, the massive waves that come crashing in to this little space throw these boulders around making an awesome rumbling sound. A must see if you live close enough to the Mornington Peninsula.

A fascinating and beautiful beach on the west coast of Norway. These huge boulders roll in and out when the powerful North Seas waves hit them. It makes an eerie and almost frightening sound.

Well I have just gotten back from a stint up the East coast on Sunday night, and of course had to stop in Byron Bay for what was supposed to be a night, but turned into 4. Took about a million photographs but only a few were Red Bubble worthy in my own estimation. Unfortunately for me, a very talented Lee Burgess has beaten me to the punch on the lighthouse by about 8 hours…Oh well, pays not to sit on piccies too long huh! For what its worth, this is my take…

After a day in which temperatures reached 40 degrees celsius and beyond, there were plenty of relaxed holiday-makers still enjoying the ambience, the breeze and the spectacular skies. After visiting the beautiful Cambewarra Lookout in the Morton National Park south of Sydney, you can meander down the mountain towards Nowra and this is the type of panoramic scenery you will find … Smoke haze is evident here from the bushfires further into the Morton National Park at the time. Taken at Rhyll early in the morning when the tide was way out. On the way back from Cowes to Woolamai I thought I might stop by Rhyll as I had never been there before even after all the years we had a house there. I spotted this boat tied up in the mud and couldn’t resist a shot. My shoes sank into the mud real deep and had to give the tripod a good clean. Taken with my Canon 40D with polarising and graduated filters. This one was taken at popular surfing spot Cat Bay on the North West coast of Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia. Got here with the hope of getting some nice long exposures of the high tide coming in and then the clouds opened up… Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens as well as poalrising, graduated and ND filters.
