I took this photo of a storm hitting the Glasshouse Mountains just after sunset from the top of Wild Horse Mountain. Unfortunately the mountains don’t look too sharp due to the blurring effect of the heavy rain. I had a lot of trouble holding the tripod down the wind was so fierce let alone keeping rain drops off the lens.
This was taken just after my 21st birthday – after a great day out. I hope you enjoy the image, as it was just spectacular being there!

A pretty photo of Loch Cluanie on the West of Scotland. Loch Cluanie (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Cluanaidh) is a loch in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. It is a reservoir, contained behind the Cluanie dam, constructed by Mitchell Construction and completed in 1957 as part of the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board’s Glenmoriston project to generate hydroelectricity.
Miura calendar Taken on my last day of work during my intership in Hayama: Japan on August 8th, 2007. The office threw me a farewell dinner party at Hayama Isshiki beach, as we watched the sunset with Mt. Fuji and Enoshima in the distance. Mt. Fuji’s exceptionally symmetrical cone is a well-known symbol of Japan. check out the series here Also available at Zazzle
The beautiful west coast highlands in scotland … The white diamond signs mark passing places on this typical single track road. Taken on an old waterproof minolta (handy for the scottish climate!) I’ve hesitated to post this as its not great image quality. However I have a soft spot for this escapist view (bluetacked to my office wall for those ‘im outta here’ moments!) Untouched
Lake Mackintosh is a Hydro Tasmania lake near Tullah in Tasmania’s west. Surrounded by mountains and old growth forests, It dams the Mackintosh River and Sophia River, then feeds Mackintosh Power Station, Tasmania through into Lake Rosebery. / The Murchison River (Tasmania) is also fed into this lake through the Murchison Dam, to the south. / Like all Hydro Tasmania lakes, Lake Mackintosh is stocked with plump trout. You can launch your boat at a number of boat ramps on the Lake and spend the day fishing, or enjoy a picnic or barbecue on the shore. / Literally surrounded by lakes, Tullah is a haven for boating and fishing enthusiasts. You can enjoy a number of walks in the area, including the challenging bushwalk to the summit of Mt Farrell which is rewarded with stunning views. Once accessible only by rail, Tullah now has a tourist railway – the restored steam train Wee Georgie Wood – which operates on weekends during the summer months. You can also join a number of guided tours in the area including trout fishing, horse riding and four wheel drive tours. / /

Lupine blossoms in the foreground and at the edge of a steep drop off into the Pacific, while a layer of fog floats gracefully around the base of Mt. Humbug before drifting out to sea. Nikon D200 w/ 18-70 mm f/3.5 zoon lens @ f/10.0, 1/350th, ISO200
A clearing storm just before sunset on the Napali Coast, captured from Kalalau Lookout in Kokee State Forest on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. For me, the incredible light and views that can be seen at different times of the day from this vantage point are second to none in all of Hawaii. The only thing you need to do is be patient when you arrive, as this area is frequently fogged in and rainy. As an example, I waited almost 2 hours before the sky broke and I was able to capture this shot. For me it was worth the wait ! Across to Skye from the road to Applecross, Highlands, Scotland / / The My Boat Song Carry me home like a bird on the wing let me just see the sky Distance I’m blind ask a sight let me sing once let me hear the lie Then I was whole, once I was kind Sometimes could hear me sigh lost I am now as the mariners soul Ask me, but what care I? Where is the boy who was born to be seen? Where has he gone to reply? Carry him back to where wishes were keen let him begin to comply Desperate when wishes then felt incomplete lingerings softly cry Believe what is yours sigh and then shriek lament before you die Carry me home how absurdly I sing the feelings I now deny words hollowed out give a desperate ring Once I then learned how to fly. © 2008 Ken Simm.
