Coast dawn

  • Highland Light on Cape Cod-September 2006. The original shot was taken on a cold and windy September morning…but I didn’t feel either the cold or the wind when the sun came up and painted those clouds as well as the sky.

  • This is another in my Ghost Cove series of images. They are all ultra-long expsosure images taken of the coastline before dawn. The water is totally blurred due to the long exposure and you are left with ghostly images of rocks emerging from a kind of ghostly mist. The images were converted with a sepia split-tone. This image is taken of the rocks at Turimetta beach on the North shore of Sydney

  • Stripy sky at dawn – Roker Beach, Sunderland, North East England

  • Beautiful dawn light at Wembury on the South Devon coast. The multi-coloured lichen covered slices of bedrock jutting out of the sea at an acute angle in the forground give clues to the geological composition of this Special Area of Conservation. • The ruins of the Redcliff Radar Station. This is the outside of the former command center. All the buildings are now crumbling and in ruin. The station has been abandoned since 1961. Radar operators in the AC&W Squadron tracked the movements of aircraft sighted and passed speed, height and direction information to a Direction Centre (DC) and fighter interceptor squadrons. Fighter aircraft could be airborne in minutes after an alarm was given, and they closed in on unidentified planes by means of direction provided by the radar operators. Another of the Red Cliff functions was furnishing navigational aid to friendly aircraft operating in the area. Their detection of May-Day calls contributed to quick search and rescue efforts. / More in this series / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography

  • In recent weeks, the sunrises and sunsets have been quite impressive. Here is a shot I took around Port Philip Bay during one cool morning. The colours were vibrant and the clouds slick and layered. It was shot as an HDR image.

  • The North Narrabeen Rockpool is one of the largest rockpools in the Sydney region. It consists of two pools, one 50m by 18m lap pool, enclosed in a 70m by 40m wading pool. The boardwalk that separates the two pools is a well known icon. / The pool is a fantastic location and is very photogenic. / This image is also available in a high contrast black and white called Into The Darkness. EXIF / Date: 17/09/2008 / Time: 6:06am / Aperture: f/16 / Shutter: 4 seconds / ISO: 200

  • I had waited four days for this to happen, we’d been on a winter break to Mt Maunganui, the first three days had clear blue sky’s and no waves, the fourth day saw the weather turn and on the fifth morning this happened. It was monumental and that’s why I have called it my visual 1812 overture, the sunrise lasted an hour, it just kept getting bigger and bigger till it just exploded into colour and faster that it arrived it died and we had rain all day. Right time right place and I was there to capture it and preserve it forever. This was monumental, found my self having to run down the beach to get the next break in the light, it lasted an hour and felt like ten minutes and when it was gone I new I had seen and captured something divine! This album makes me feel very humble. Shot on a nikon D70s, 18-70mm Lens

  • Watching over Wellington Harbour at Point Hallswell. Shot on a Nikon D700 with Tamron 17-35 lens. Other work in this series / 5am and Hallswell / Hallswell Light / Moss on ya / Guardian Angel

  • So slept in the back of the car to save on driving down here and rushing to make sunrise. Can’t beat getting up at 4.20am (out of shock) and walking down to this spot in the dark…really! loved it, it was really hot that day so it was pleasent with a nice warm breeze blowing. If you look at the top left just above the island you can see a newish moon about to go down and the sun is trying to make it’s way up, better to view it large. It’s about a 30 second exposure.

  • Royal National Park is just 32 km south of Sydney, Australia. It is the secondest oldest national park in the world, being declared soon after Yellowstone in 1879. These images were taken over a 2 year period and represent my attempts to capture some of the incredible beauty of this magnificent park. All the images are real – no elements have been edited in.

  • About After hearing that the weather forecast wasn’t going to be too great, and it was going to be high tide at sunrise, we decided to head to Currumbin Beach anyway to meet up with Josh to do a scout at least here. What a fantastic place! High tide was just right with the water rushing all the way through the rocks causing all sorts of incredible effects. - ISO 100, f11, 35 sec, 20mm / - Sigma 10-20mm Lens / - Tripod used Processing - Photomatix HDR – 3 exposures (2, 0, 2) / Soft light layer / - Clarity and and unsharp mask.

  • This loan rock looked a bit out of place. Taken Inverloch, Victoria.

  • Temma Harbour shacks from the south side of the harbour on a beautiful moody morning. / In the space of an hour or two I had clear skies & stars, a golden foggy glow, rain, a rainbow over the waves, and this moody sunrise sky that comes with these changeable conditions. / Temma, NW Tasmania Nikon D90 / Sigma 10-20mm lens @ 19mm featured in Natural Colour & Light group 27th July 2009 / featured in Dimensions group 3rd August 2009

  • Featured in Style! Class! Elegance! – September 2009 / Featured in Your Magic PLACE – September 2009 Northern Currumbin Beach (Gold Coast, QLD – Australia) shortly after sunrise. This made for a great vantage point of the incoming tide, waters deeper with each passing minute. Many times in the middle of this shot I had to grab my camera & tripod and take a run from incoming waves crashing all over the rocky area in the midground and foreground, but only added to the excitement. Taken with a 450D & Sigma 10-20. 3 shots (EV -2, 0. +2) at f/22 and ISO 100. Processed with Photoshop CS4. My Images DO NOT Belong To The Public Domain. All images are copyright © Jason Asher.
