  • Everywhere we look we are surrounded by piles of useless information.. and small print.. should we read it all to make sure we don’t leave ourselves ill informed or worse ? Ignorance is no excuse when it comes to the law. • The scholar always aspires to expand the knowledge for themselves, as well as for all humanity. The teachings are given for the community; to learn, to grow, to evolve. When time has taken them, few can recall their noble thoughts. There are some, however, that hold on to the ideals passed down through the ages. It is then when the scholar’s endeavors are rewarded… in the rising laureate. Dedicated to my sweetheart. My sweetheart and I attended a Renaissance Fair in Kansas City some years ago where, in an old building, I stumbled upon a dark corner of forgotten objects. I loved the look, the gathering of old pieces hardly looked upon, and tried my best to get a good photograph. I upped the ISO, which accounts for the noise, though I’m glad it turned out this way. The grittiness truly shows the aging, here. Canon EOS 30D DSLR

  • My wife and I have been trying to sort through some old things at her old home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Recently, we set out to tackle the attic, getting rid of the old things we don’t need any longer and to keep those special things that bring to mind lovely memories of growing up in this house. I wanted to capture the treasure trove of memories before disrupting it. To me, there is something magical about an attic. I remember as a child playing in an attic of one of my friends’ house. What a fantastic time we had discovering lost treasure, fighting off pirates, and zooming through space and time. There are so many journeys still to be taken. I guess age shifts our perceptions from the pretend to the practical. I hope this image does for you what it does for me, a momentary capture of the realm of the ‘pretend’ and that you feel that magic once more. This is a HDR image combining 6 bracketed shots using Photomatix Pro for Macs. Slight adjustments in lighting and tone were done using the enhanced details tool.
