Ian Rilen was a legendary Sydney rock and roller and a member of bands such as Rose Tattoo, X and Sardine V. He died earlier this year and is much missed for his wild and wonderful ways. I found this candid back stage shot of him and his then wife Stephanie preparing to go onstage at the Trade Union Club in Sydney’s Surry Hills way way back in the early 80’s. They were in Sardine V at that time and when I look at this shot now the eighties rush back. Oh my misspent youth. :) So Vale Ian Rilen, I so hope things are rocking were ever you are. This shot is for you.

This was another shot from the other day at Sunset. I really wanted to bring out the amazing colors of the sunset and shooting directly at the sun was hard to get a good exposure especially with the standard canon kit lens I was getting a fair bit of lens flare (Cant wait till I my Sigma 10 -20 mm lens). So I bracketed 3 different exposures all 2 stops apart. I used a cokin ND grad filter to try to keep some of the color in the fore ground. / I really liked the contrasting colors in this shot and the tree made a nice Silhouette I then used Photomatrix pro to convert the 3 images into a HDR . Final curves and sat were done in PhotoShop.

I had a special request from Sir Muscular Teeth, do to a male DJ. This was a great challenge, b/c i’m not sure how to work it like a guy… I can work it like a geisha, no worries ;) ~ so i hope i’ve done you guys not only some justice, but funky justice! i think I have in my book, what with shaved heads and so on. ;) This would be a bit of a boyfriend/companion tshirt to Osaka Nights, the sushi buttons are back too. In lieu of this tee, I’ve uploaded a larger version of Osaka Nights, just so they match a bit better. I did Osaka Nights a long time ago now, aahhh! Enjoy :) Thanks teethy! /

This torrential downpour put us off our planned sunset sail last night… lightening and metal dinghy masts are not the best combo I fear… the raindrops almost bouncing off the loch.. or stoatin’ doon as joak would say.. Not great art but a memorable night and just wish i’d got those rebounding raindrops more clearly… try viewing large.. The White King’s Pawn / Artist: Scott Robinson / Biography: Danny Barely human but loyal and savage / The King prefers to have those under him effective but expendable. / He has never let anyone grow close to him, even his Queen is a necessity of protocol. / His Majesty had the University of the Gear create the King’s personal guard from his own genes because of the high loyalty and devotion to the King this factored into their being. / Ironically though, they are not taken from the King but come from the Queen after it was discovered by the University that the King’s gene structure was abnormal and did not allow any cloning or modification in any shape or form. / A secret the Queen and University hold close to their breasts. / These fanatically loyal servants believe themselves to be children of the King and would lay down their lives with a mere whisper from the Him. / Extremities such as wings stubs and sexual organs that grafted on by the University staff to both hide the fact they are born female and as homage to the winged coat arms that the King insists appears on everything he rules.
