  • This image was taken before dawn down at North Narrabeen Rock Pool. This is one of the largest rock pools in Australia. This image was a 3 minute exposure which captures a lovely blurring of the clouds. The interesting colours of the water are due to overhead lighting on the pool. This is a very simple but peaceful image. For those that want to find out how I produced this, I described my processing in detail in one of my blog posts You can read it here

  • Thought I’d play around with a slightly more surreal shot. The red light is from an overhead sodium light that casts a funky orange/red light on the pool. Great storm clouds brewing in the East around sunrise. Mona Vale pool is one of my favorites around Sydney. Enjoy.

  • This fantastic image was also taken from my home in Tucson, Arizona.

  • Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado…..and how I love shooting up there when the winter weather begins to roll on in…the wind is bad, the air—-freezing cold, but the images that one can capture are filled with atmosphere and drama, case in point, this shot here. I about froze my butt off getting this shot of Mummy Mountain, but I wanted something that really showed all the detail here….that represented what it’s all about being a nature photographer in Colorado…... / Thoughts welcomed! / HDR blending used to bring out more dramatic light and detail / John

  • Watching the Sunrise on the Eastern Plains of Colorado, HDR blending used to bring out atmosphere an detail John

  • “Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

Strange how the image I intend to make is never the final result. But I’m usually happier when that happens… Endless Silence by ATB ....Stock Credits…. / Sky / Model / Stock copyrights remain the property of their respective owners.

  • First storm to hit the area in over 6 months, I was so excited!! Straight to my chosen spot and took hundreds of shots, just waiting for that moment. The sky was so extreme, there was no wind, no rain, just the crazy clouds, and lightning! The rain of course was close, but I managed to get this before it started to pour :) Noosa River, Noosaville, Queensland. the boat is the same subject in River Living and I was very thankful it was still for this to work. Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available large, and best viewed large! :)

  • Sometimes, just sometimes reality can exceed all your expectations. The day had been a complete washout with a horrendous storm that seemed to go on forever. Then, just before sunset the storm broke to create one of the most colourful and amazing sunsets I have ever seen. Turned out I was in a great locations as well. Shot on the banks of Derwent Water near Keswick in the English Lake District. Finalist in the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2007

  • Had a blast this afternoon, a bunch of small cell electrical storms passed over, and there was plenty of opertunity to capture the fine displays Mother Nature put on. Lake Donella being one of my favorite places to shoot for wildlife, I thought I would try add them in too. This is only a 10 second exposure, the light was not pitch black yet, and the back lit sky was nice to add a bit of light to the scene. After this shot, the small fish in the shallows all went crazy, and I think it lightly zapped me, weird sensation. Lake Donella, Noosaville, Queensland, Australia. Canon 5D Mk II, 35mm. Available Very Large and definately best viewed large!

  • / I was down at Okanagan beach this afternoon taking some photographs when I noticed the reflection of some tree tops with the light shining through them in this puddle. Thought it looked almost like the leaves in the puddle were falling onto the trees…..seemed kind of magical to me :)
