  • This photo was taken during a extreme low tide just after sunrise at Monkey Mia in Shark Bay Western Australia. You could walk out about 100 meters from the beach before you got to the water! The location of Monkey Mia is the only place on Western Australia where the sun rises over the ocean. / As you can see in this photo the sun has been blocked by the large cloud formation, but can be seen in the reflections off the wet sand. A 10 shot stitched panorama! Taken with my 20D And 17-40 f/4 L. Featured In: Australia! You’re Standing In it, Bubblettes, Canon DSLR, Landscape Photography, Panoramas, Skyscapes, The Beauty of Nature, WA Red Bubbles Mk II, Western Australia. Viewed 1582 times.

  • Happy New Year everyone! This shot was taken at the Sunshine Coast just before Christmas 2007….well it’s an old shot isn’t it. Taken with my Canon 5D and the EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens. No Filter has been used but I did some fake HDR processing (single shot) using Dynamic Photo HDR. It’s a fun program and a great alternative to Photomatix.

  • Full moon to the left…airport to the right, a nugget in the sea and a sprinkled sky 13 Sec Exposure / Focal Length 16.0 mm / F6.3

  • The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site

  • This image inspired a collaboration with / chord0 / / His poem God’s love in Nature suite this image perfectly. God’s love in Nature / When slight and silenced, / With rumors of corollas and wings, / Is love that fills everything! / Have agitated waves / And the deep vertigo / Of the abyss and the distance. / Life and Death, eternal Love / Of pain and exuberance, / Keep me chained / To the light of his Word / And that sleeps at dusk / In the footprints of the plants. Please check his writings and gallery Bacara Beach in Santa Barbara, California during magic hour at dusk. The pier in the background is the Venoco Ellwood pier and is used only by the oil company, to load and unload personnel and supplies for the oil rigs in the Channel Islands passage. / Image was taken using HDR technique. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- /

  • Featured in Dimensions framing suggestion / The very talented Cathrine / was kind enough to write this beautiful poem: Stranded I await / for signs, for answers / that may come my way / In a day, a word, a gesture / and when it comes, what would I say? For the path to walk is so unclear / My tide is low, my movement lost / Where to go, a mystery to me / Rooted, in this space of now / My final port, I don’t see Don’t want to falter / don’t want to fall / don’t want to sink / into an unknown hole / Just await, the best, I think It will come, it will tell / and then I shall answer / with a clarity of voice / in this circus of a world / I will make my choice and so I await / for my tide to come in / Entire being reaching / to be carried to the place / where my heart and mind would be meeting. / Thanks very much for all your kind support:) xxx

  • 5DII 24-104 lens iso 400 handheld knee deep in squishy smelly mud. (the things we do)

  • Digital Photography has come a long way, people can now take better photo becasue of the more sophisticated equipments….higher resolutions. Sydney is FULL of the early riser (photographer who gets up at 4:30am searching for the ultimate sunrise shot), what a better way to do it than being near the water to watch the sun comes up. I am one of them. This is a weekly rountine for a lot of people i know. This is my Sydney, this is how it is NOW. Oat 10-22mm ultra-wide…..dramatic enough? Just another morning shoot, we were blessed with these beautiful clouds, plus low still tide to create these beautiful reflection at Long Reef, Sydney. Have you ever wanted to walk on water? / Cold morning? with the right gear you can stay warm and even walk on water. I didn’t have my speedlite with me so onboard camera flash will have to do, compensated to +2EV flash power. Theory Behind The Shot: / Trying to keep the bg as underexpose as you can by metering it. / Ideally, what one should do is that meter the bg and see how much it is, then adjust the flash to match it, so then you get evenly expose photo. but no flash would match the sun…so yeah. This is why they use reflector to reflect light back to the subject – if you dont want to use a flash. – again i have no reflector. If you meter the subject….the camera would think, "shit, it’s dark, let brighten it up" – then you get blown out sky. So you meter the background and use flash to light the subject Photo of www.flickr.com/photos/echo_photos/

  • A similar shot to one I have uploaded previously, however I spent more time processing this until it came out how I remembered it. Canon Eos 5D, TS-E 24mm, 8 seconds at f22. 1.2ND and 0.9 hard grad.

  • Thought I’d upload the image in large….all that water falling over the front rocks there also fell on me and the camera…. I have never been so thoroughly soaked before…whilst wearing clothes… Since I was there with a couple of my students it was a GREAT lesson on what NOT to do….LOL

  • View from Kilclief on the shore of Strangford Lough in County Down, Northern Ireland. / Canon 5D mkII 24-70 f2.8L. 2 stop ND grad. HDR image produced from one file (and a lot of tweaking)! / This replaces an earlier version of this shot which I wasn’t 100% happy with.

  • Sunrise on Murlough beach in County Down, Northern Ireland. Another stormy one – it soon poured down. / Canon 5D mkII 24-70 2.8L, 3 stop grad.
