  • Music: Star Wars – Soundtrack This is a simple case of “Oh lets see if that is going to work out”. 5 exposures at 2EV difference. HDR Tone Mapping in Photomatix. No Photoshop. I thought the flare might come up nice after processing, but I never imagined it to be like this. I hope you like it.

  • The only song I thought of when I did the HDR processing was “End of the World” by REM. It’s the end of the World as we know it and I feel fine… I took my Camera to Miranda Fair (our local shopping centre) today, because I was hoping to catch a few glimpses of the big storm brewing over Sydney. Instead I ended up with this.

  • have always wanted to capture a big plane landing but could never be there at the right time or having the wind blowing in the right direction. The low clouds helps bring the plane closer than usual….i could almost touch it….hahhah. To see a hugh metal flying over you at approx. 200kph is…...priceless. The jetfuel, the noise…...Perfect. I am NOT a plane enthusiast , but it is fascinating to watch. Sydney “Kingsford Smith” Airport Boeing 747 landing train plane truck car chair Transportation

  • Sydney, Long Reef is a protected marine reserve with rock shelves that extend out about 200m into the sea. We were lucky to have a beautiful cloud and still water reflecting of it. Shot with Cokin Z-Pro Tobacco Filter to give it a mood. The normal image tho looks good are just to wash out and unattractive, so i strap a filter on. Gum Boots is essential for early Sydney Sea Side shoot – unless you want wan mild frostbite at the end of the morning…eiei. Mind you i usually go shoe less in Summer…ahhaha…feel the water. 0.04 sec (1/25) | f/6.3 | 10 mm | ISO: 100 | Bias: 1 +EV | Shade WB / www.hangingpixels.com

  • Sorry for not posting many shots over the past few weeks and not leaving any replies. I have been really busy with work and work around the house. I can tell you the past few days have been the worst choice to do some work around the Garden. Anyway here are two HDR – Sunrise shots from a few weeks ago taken from Victoria Road near the old White Bay Power Station. I hope you like it. • The skies of Sydney putting on a show to rival the best of Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks. This photo a couple of weeks after New Year’s Eve.

  • The light was changing every minute. I climbed over some huge rocks to get into a great position to take some surfing shots, when suddenly this huge cloud covered up the sun. Suddenly the beautiful light illuminating the waves the surfers were riding was gone. I looked to my left and noticed the light here. Quickly, I grabbed my stuff and setup this shot…..only got one frame, because soon after this the light here was also gone. • I know this totally doesn’t look real.. but beilieve me.. it was freezing!! This was a 10 sec exposure, ISO 100 at f20 with an ND filter and circular polarizer..

  • Taken at Norah Head, two hours north of Sydney on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Beautiful little place =) the lighthouse there is too cute.

  • I shot this just a few moments before dawn off the Bundeena Cliffs at Royal NP just south of Sydney and a 15 minute walk from where I live. / This section of coast in Royal is just magnificent and I keep getting drawn back to it night and day – can’t imagine how many hours I’ve spent up here just sitting and gazing out to sea or taking pics. There are actually some hermit dwellings built into the side of the cliffs during the 1930’s Depression which are now derelict. I can fully understand why people built them. Wouldn’t mind setting up residence myself (but I love my running hot and cold water too much lol). Tv: 1/6 sec / Av: f/ll / ISO: 100 / FL: 10mm / Canon 30D

  • North Narrabeen tidal pool on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Shot at 18mm; 30sec; f/11; ISO100

  • Taken on a beautiful evening at Wattamolla in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. This is the upper Wattamolla Creek falls on the way to Marley Beach. • / . / I had some requests of a portrait shot of my photo entitled “Luna over Luna Park”. Luckily, I had taken the shot. I’m not great at giving photos titles, hence the title for this one. This was taken on the same night of my other photos “Luna Over Luna Park”, “Luna Harbour” and “Luna PANORAMA”. The photos were taken in quite quick succession. I attempted to combine the full moon, with the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You might be interested in viewing the other photos because this is in Portrait, two are in Landscape, and one PANORAMA. It’s amazing how a similar subject can be photographed in slightly different ways, and produce different results. I will interested in knowing which of the four is you favourite !

  • A view of Sydney Harbour as seen from Taronga Zoo. This is a digital watercolour I created in Photoshop.

  • Worth going to Larger for this one – heaps more stars. Storm off Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park. This shot has all my favourite elements in one image – the moon, stars, lightning, storm clouds, and ocean. What a treat this night was – getting some fantastic storms here. This is about the sixth I’ve photographed. There are two lightning cells here – the white one under the moon and the orange one off to the right of the main cloudbank. This is one shot in a continuous sequence of 100 I shot to create a startrails version. Unfortunately my computer is choking on processing that many 50mb files at once so may be delayed in posting the startrails version. Shot with the Big Scary Monster: Canon 1Ds MkIII – 16-35mm f/2.8 LII USM lens / Tv: 30secs / Av: f/3.5 / ISO: 200 / FL: 17mm

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER CURENT ENTRY IN MORNINGS AND EVENINGS CHALLENGE THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT THis shot was taken from Berrys Bay/ Balls Head Park on the north shore of Sydney taken on Wednesday 28th May 2008 around 5pm. As you can see the clouds herald what is to come, the buildings are lit by pre storm light combined with the last rays of day light. The storm that followed was quite severe with 868 recorded lightning strikes, just have to love the clouds and light. Equipment used Nikon D300 and Nikon 18 – 200mm lens. /

  • I’d like to be able to say that when I was composing this shot I saw the plane taking off out of frame and worked out its trajectory would take it just over th e sun as it was rising, but I can’t :-(. Truth is I was so focussed on the rising sun I didn’t even notice the plane til I downloaded the shot and started working on it. So this is actually a tiny crop of the original landscape orientation I shot it in. One of those serendipitous moments you don’t even notice at the time. Taken from Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park just a few moments after Streaming to the Dawn. Another stumble upon going through the archives. Canon 30D / Tv: 1/15sec / Av: f/11 / ISO: 100

  • An infrared photo I took a while ago… but I just found it again on my computer. The title is from the song playing at the moment on iTunes….I’m lost for inspiration – “One Crowded Hour” by Augie March from their album “Moo, You Bloody Choir” – well worth a listen if you haven’t heard it.

  • Featured in Extreme Weather Group Featured in CanonDSLR Group Featured in Lightening and Storms Group Featured in Severe Weather Group Taken just after sunset, on March 25th 2009, in Berowra NSW Australia. This storm cell moved from West in the Blue mountains in a Easterly direction, just to the South of me, so I was able to watch it track from the mountains across to Sydney. The lightening was amazing, what would start as a flicker would then continue to branch out across the cloud, not going downwards as usual, it appeared to start at the bottom of the cloud and spread like tentacles across the storm cell. Canon 5D / ISO – 50 / f/5.6 / 8s / 22mm focal length Wikipaedia: / Another terminology used for cloud-cloud or cloud-cloud-ground lightning is “Anvil Crawler”, due to the habit of the charge typically originating from beneath or within the anvil and scrambling through the upper cloud layers of a thunderstorm, normally generating multiple branch strokes which are dramatic to witness. These are usually seen as a thunderstorm passes over the observer or begins to decay. The most vivid crawler behaviour occurs in well developed thunderstorms that feature extensive rear anvil shearing. /

  • When I left Home It Didn’t Look Like Rain I headed for Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair hoping for a good sunset. It started out that way too, but when I turned my camera onto the city to pick up some bright reflections off the office tower windows I noticed a very big, very wet, very dirty dishcloth hanging less than nonchalantly over the city skyline. / Oops. No raincoat… / I got very wet walking home, but I also saw the Emerald City, looking her magnificently tarty best, totally swathed in glorious glowing air. / / When I left Home It Didn’t Look Like Rain was featured in: / Dawn and Dusk Light – July 2009 / ! 100% ! – July 2009 / Sydney – July 2009 / / Kit: / Nikon D200 – Sigma 10~20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM / Manfroto tripod / Nikon MC-36 Remote / Exposure: / 20mm f11×7 exposures – 1/30s ~ 2s / Post Processing: / Photomatix, PSE, Noiseware, much faffing about / / Best viewed LARGE / - / Thank you for stopping by and thank you for your comments
