  • Taken on Mt.Higginbotham at Mt.Hotham the cloud had just thinned enough toward the sun enough to allow a soft but distinct shadow to be cast by the snowgum onto the fresh snow. ~ / Browse Images by Category : Snow Landscape Nature

  • These birds are magnificent on their own, but if your lucky enough to get a breath taking back ground, all the better!

  • A major early snow storm blanketed the Cascade Mountains. A small lake nearly froze over by winter cold offers a bit of a reflection as Mt. Rainier looms in the background capped by a lenticular cloud cap. A pristine view one can linger on if you can stand the cold.

  • Loch of the Lowes lies in the beautiful scottish borders between Moffat and Selkirk. It flows into nearby St Mary’s loch (with its thriving sailing club) past old Tibbieshiels inn, hostelry and overnight stop for walkers on the southern upland way crossing Scotland. Overlooking the north end of the loch is a monument to James Hogg – the Scottish Poet known as the Ettrick Shepherd, friend and contemporary of Sir Walter Scott. Taken 4/3/08 (untouched) with a pocket fuji finepix A500 (There is a 2nd loch of the lowes further north in Perthshire, complete with osprey viewing centre – but you can see the wonderful fish eagle hunting here too if you are lucky!) My first ever feature on the home page ages on 23rd April 2008 and what a party that was…LOL See also : ‘i am a rock’ and ‘LoL’ loch of the lowes

It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6183 feet (1884 m). The lake has a surface area of 0.5 km². The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. However, when it is full, it is a beautiful shade of blue. • November 11,2006, driving through an early winter squall from Calgary and into Banff National Park, in the Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Canada. Caught sight of Castle Mountain and stopped to wait until the wind and clouds gave me the view I was looking for. Very cold, but I managed to get several that I liked. I think this one is the best. / The actual name of the mountain is “Castle Mountain” which seemed appropriate for the title. / Sony DSCF828 camera Featured in “Masters of the Scenic” Group / Featured in “AMERICAS ~ Rural, Urban, Wild, Free – Expressions of Artists” Group / Featured in “Retired and Happy , 4 a Day Limit.” / Featured in “Pacific Northwest” / Featured in “Canadiana” / #2 in the Landscapes Challenge of “The Addicted Photographer►2 Per Day◄ group” / #2 in the Mountains Challenge of the “Mood & Ambience”Group” / First Place winner in the New Features Challenge of “Pacific Northwest” / FEATURED ON RB HOME PAGE JUNE 5th. 2009 / Featured in The 500 to 5000 Viewings Group / 1340 views as of Nov. 7, 2009

When we arrived at the mountain on Friday afternoon, the temperatures were hovering at slightly above freezing and the icing on the trees and the roads was trying to decide if it wanted to refreeze or not. The winds came up … and the power to the cabin was out. It was going to be a c-c-c-coooold night if the power company couldn’t get up the mountain!! But we underestimated Valley Rural Electric … those brave darlings had our power back on within a short while, and life was good. For about 2 hours. Then just as my son was arriving and driving down our road there was a POP and a blinding flash and we were again plunged into darkness. The powerful power guys were back on the scene quickly and by the time we got back to the house after having dinner out, the electric was back and stayed back. Saturday was windy and gray with a little snow toward evening. Sunday morning broke bright and beautiful, as you see it!!! I hope you enjoy our view!!!! Now, go grab some hot cocoa (drinking chocolate to our British friends), crank up this tune … then come back and enjoy the rest of my winter-wonderland!!!!! TransSiberian Orchestra Taken from the deck at our ski cabin on Blue Knob in Claysburg PA December 21, 2008. I was using the Nikon D40x with the 18-135mm lens and the polarizer. Only levels and some shadows and highlights touched.

The view is breathtaking as we drive by on the freeway, worthy of photos all the way! This photo was taken by me hanging out the passenger side window on the way home from Lake Tahoe. This is off of highway 395 – between Bishop and Mammoth. We were traveling at 65 mph. I just kept clicking away – praying for a capture like this… Straight from the camera, straight from the freeway! • Storm clouds seem to spew from top of majestic M. Rainier, almost as if this active volcano was erupting. Lupine and buttercup dot the alpine meadow in the foreground.
