  • Fiery red sunrises have often been a feature and a great experience of camping at Batton Hill in the North Simpson Desert. The black silhoutted trees and messe form a strong contrast against the fiery red sky

  • The light was changing every minute. I climbed over some huge rocks to get into a great position to take some surfing shots, when suddenly this huge cloud covered up the sun. Suddenly the beautiful light illuminating the waves the surfers were riding was gone. I looked to my left and noticed the light here. Quickly, I grabbed my stuff and setup this shot…..only got one frame, because soon after this the light here was also gone. • This image was taken before dawn down at North Narrabeen Rock Pool. This is one of the largest rock pools in Australia. This image was a 3 minute exposure which captures a lovely blurring of the clouds. The interesting colours of the water are due to overhead lighting on the pool. This is a very simple but peaceful image. For those that want to find out how I produced this, I described my processing in detail in one of my blog posts You can read it here

  • The Vigilant When no land was secure, this stone-made giants assured that the next day wouldn’t be made of captivity and suffering. Strategically placed, these strongholds were the ones who held a country’s name and honour during times of war. Fortunately we are in times of peace, and it’s amazing to step on the luxurious grass, and hear the wind while gazing such gorgeous castle. I can hear the church’s bells far away, a child laughter near, and the sound of the sheeps right in front of me. Yet… the sense of respect is omnipresent, and the scent of bravery still lives here… This is Castelo do Lindoso in the north of Portugal, on Serra do Gerês. José Ramos

  • A lucky photo of the lighthouse at Scarborough. I’d had my back to the lighthouse for some time watching the light falling over the south beach when I turned round to see a huge black cloud behind the lighthouse and this beautiful rainbow. I only had about a minute to get the photo I wanted before the rainbow faded and the heavens opened soaking me to the skin!

  • “Floating on Clouds” was shot in Goulds Newfoundland Canada. This is The Dory in natural light. I was talking to a friend about shooting “The Dory” and “Floating on Clouds” and how I used a polarizer to bring out the clouds on the water (as seen here) and removed it and used a flash to shoot “The Dory”. I was wondering in hindsight what I would have come up with if I had used the polarizer and flash at the same time. I know I would have given up about up to two stops with the filter which would have meant a slower shutter speed and the boat was moving, ever so slightly, so it may not have worked out? But maybe next time, live and learn! • HAPPY HALLOWEEN I’m so sorry it’s been tough for me to catch up with everyone lately…so I thought I’d say hi and wish everyone a safe and fun Halloween!! After 5 months of chemo…and now on radiation…soon life will be back to normal. This month is my 1 year anniversary that I found my lump, and I am so thankful to have gotten this far in the game. With 6 1/2 weeks of radiation…I have less than 2 weeks to go, and one final surgery. I can’t believe I’m almost at the end of this!! I also wanted to thank all of my friends out in RB land for such wonderful, positive and amazing support you have given me since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. When I originally joined here in Oct of 2007…I never expected to make so many friends. The community here is so uplifting…and I am so lucky to know all of you!! From my heart to yours…thank you!! I expect life to finally be at normal pace in about 1 month…so forgive me if I haven’t been able to drop in a lot lately…but I want all of you to know you are always on my mind…and I truly love you all!! xoxo / Kellie P.S. I took this shot a couple years back in North Idaho near the Canada border (1 month before it was torn down). Such a shame to see these old beauties taken away…but was fortunate to come across it before it was gone! :) My Little Devil /
