The symbolism of this image is deep. Man against nature, his arrogance even when dwarfed by the age and strength of nature. / This was taken in Arches National Park at Delicate Arch in the Fall of 2005. There are many photographs of Delicate Arch and I didn’t want to duplicate what had already been done. With a man dressed in a black suit, he appears in a unique vision of the famed Delicate Arch stepping out from another time and place.

GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS / Photo best viewed large. / / / / / / FEATURED WORKS / “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” was FEATURED in the group #1 ARTISTS OF RED BUBBLE / / / I took this photo of Mammatus on a Good Friday before Easter in Ashland, Kentucky. The clouds first started rolling in and looked like fluffy white marshmallows. Then in front of the setting sun they dramatically began to change colors. They went from snow white to shades of silvers, pinks, grays, blues and even purples! The colors were quite striking and dramatic; these clouds were nothing like anything I had ever seen before! For a few minutes they turned very dark, and it was a sight I will never forget!! These amazing mammatus clouds lasted about 45 minutes before they exited my area. / / / We were under our second tornado watch of the year, and I found out later that I was standing right under the anvil of a severe thunderhead and that a tornado could have formed at any moment! Luckily for me it didn’t, and I was able to capture some phenomenal, amazing clouds. I can’t quite put it into words other than to say, “I closed my eyes for a few seconds and felt like I had been kissed on my cheek by an angel.” This was one time in my life that I will always remember!!! / / / This photograph of “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” has won National awards, been published in an Anthology, and has been shown on National television. This image is also featured in several websites and blogs throughout the USA and Australia for educational purposes. / / /

Background Information: / Bryce Canyon National Park is a national park located in southwestern Utah in the United States. Contained within the park is Bryce Canyon. Despite its name, this is not actually a canyon, but rather a giant natural amphitheater created by erosion along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to its geological structures, called hoodoos, formed from wind, water, and ice erosion of the river and lakebed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views to visitors. as you can see we had more cloudy days then sunny ….I had to remember I was in the mountains ..up 3000 feet most times ..and clouds were part of the scenery .... it did clear up but I wanted sun tho !!! we had more cloudy days then sunny until we got to Grand Prairie Alberta … / I didnt mind really . .I was just so thrilled to be there ….. A long time ago someone dropped a few massive boulders into a picturesque turquoise pool near Denmark/Western Australia. He seemed to be going somewhere, as he detoured around us slightly, wary of our clicking and whispering. Arches National Park Sunset in Moab Utah. As I walked down the trail from the Delicate Arch the sun began to set behind the range of mountains in the distance. The sight was truly magnificent. Shot taken with a Nikon D60, 18-55 Nikkor VR lens.

The day was horrible, persistant rain and heavy showers ( I’ve been told there is a difference ) and blowing a gale. I noticed a break in the clouds on the horizon and took a gamble that it would clear around sunset. I high-tailed it up to the forest and was blessed, for once, with the most amazing lighting I’d ever seen. The New Forest pony was the icing on the cake as far as I was concerned. I used a Canon 20D and a Sigma 10-20mm lens. This was shot in Raw and processed using PS CS2. The processing was: change colour balance / levels / curves / slightly lighten the pony and land with an adjustment layer / sharpen / save This was taken in the New Forest National Park in Southern England.

This little gem can be found just around the corner from Loch Ard Gorge near Port Campbell off Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Australia. I came here the afternoon before and there were snap happy tourists everywhere but decided to come back the next morning and there wasn’t a soul in sight, just the crashing ocean to keep me company… Unfortunately as of early June 2009 this archway has collapsed leaving two apostles next to eachother. A visit to Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Canada in early June afforded me a chance to capture this 2 image composite. Just a couple weeks prior, the lake was still frozen solid.
