  • “Separated unto the Gospel” Romans 1:1 I sometimes get so caught up in trying to be good in the eyes of God. I find myself so preoccupied with my own inner behavior that I lose sight of what God has called me to do first and foremost- proclaim the Gospel. I justify this by thinking that there is no way that I can be used by God to witness to others until I clean up all of the garbage within myself. The truth is, if I wait until I am personally “holy”, I will never be of any use to God here on earth. God is very interested in reaching and saving His lost children, yet I am more interested in how He can make me more pleasing in my own eyes. Father God, forgive me for my selfishness and pour into me your passion and urgency to proclaim the Gospel of Salvation through Jesus Christ. This painting was inspired by the powerful devotions penned and published by Oswald Chambers in the early 1900’s. His powerful book, My Utmost for His Highest, continues to touch my life and draw me closer to Jesus. I hope that this art and verse do the same for you! • Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: “ Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” Isaiah 6:2-3 Imagine angels covering their faces in the blazing glory of God as they cry out “Holy, holy, holy”. Have you ever been blinded by the sun? God is absolutely pure and sinless as our Creator, King and Judge. When we stand before him convicted of our sins on Judgment day, what will our response be when He asks us why we should be allowed into His Kingdom? Are we good enough to go to Heaven? Take a quick quiz and find out… Mark Lawrence, Isaiah 6:2-3 Painting with Light, VerseVisions, 2007. Digital mixed media on canvas, 36×36 inches. Copyright © 2007 by Mark Lawrence. • Symbolism – the ups and downs of life, exemplified by the Ferris wheel. The child enters. The mother protects. The world awaits. The Ferris wheel itself was photographed years ago on the Outer Banks of North Carlolina. “Ferris Wheel” was featured in the Windmills and Ferris wheel group in August 2009. The day before Independence Day 2009 in the United States, Dave Martsolf installed two major oil paintings for public view in Boston, Masachusetts. The painting shown here with wife / mentor Emma looking on now hangs at the foyer entryway of the ArtMarket Gallery on Washington Street in Boston, the heart of the city’s commercial district. The installation is a temporary one until Martsolf can compete two large 6’ x 4’ paintings that will completely cover the shadow image on the wood paneling left by the previous tenant. Work on those two pieces will begin shortly, consisting of enlarged versions of two of his recent watercolored pen and ink drawings. / Until then, “Ferris Wheel” will beckon passersby into the gallery.
