Lightning strike over Fremantle, Western Australia during A Summer Thunderstorm. Canon EOS 40D. Featured In: Lightning and Storms.
This photo was taken one stormy night after waiting hours for the right strike. The shot was taken by hand (no tripod) and was “lightning fast”. It is an amazing sight seeing the two forks coming from the one spot. Who says lightning doesn’t strike twice?
This was the delicious tail end of a storm. The main cloud-to-ground strikes had more or less finished, and what remained was these horizontal strikes flickering through the cloud. The effect was almost mesmeric. / / .......................................................................................... / Image Copyright Duncan Waldron © 2008 / This image may not be reproduced without permission / .......................................................................................... / /

This storm developed last summer, and produced several spectacular displays of lightning.
This lightning bolt struck miles from the storm! / The brightest celestial object is Jupiter, and the orange object below and to the left is the star Antares. The clouds are lit primarily by the city lights of Tampa, Florida. / Photo taken August 14, 2007.
Here is something tat I call Thunderbeings at play, and you can see them sturring up a pending storm, and doing what they do best Thunder and Lightning. Now crank it up, the volume way up and listed to Ghost Riders In the Sky, now you got it that’s where I am coming from….......
The base for this image was a shot I took during the infamous Thunderstorm on June 21, 2008; the only editing to that image was a lighting adjustment……the image of the Earth (The Blue Marble) is compliments of NASA…..Thank you for viewing my images. A storm near Kalispell, Montana on a cross-country drive back to California. I was told the storm resembled that of a tornado, I’m not sure, but there was a lot of noise that night. The yellow streaks at the bottom are car lights, in case you were wondering. Blog / Email Me / Galleries
I was taking photos of lightning, and when this bolt of lightning struck behind the tree, I thought the photo was one to delete… Until I looked at it on my computer! The flash of lightning was bright enough to produce a silhouette of a bat that was flying by, and was quick enough to freeze the motion of the bat. Photo taken in Lutz, Florida

I couldn’t belive what appear on my camera, I thought it was an artifact. But under close examination the two bolts of lighting are slightly different.
