Above the thick overcast London sky, lay a city of clouds.
...You know the story…:)
Mt Wellington communication tower with lenticular cloud behind.
hazy sunrise above an undercast
I happened to be driving past this paddock and noticed the specky clouds above and just so happened to have my camera with me.
A Tranquil Evening The world seemed to almost totally stop when I took this, it was a hot evening, I was sweating just about to die, but for a moment, life seemed suspended, all the hustle and bustle disappeared, and the sky went fantastic, as if the Lord above painted something which had never been seen before. For an instant, tranquility, for an instant, serenity, for an instant, the light was to die for. Look closely, take it all in, and you may notice the distant red traffic lights. The building on the left is the old boat house at Washington Park where this was shot at, built around the turn on the century 1900. These days it serves as a place for concerts for classical music, Scottish Bagpipes, and similar sorts of sounds. Examine it close and just take a deep breath. Background Information: / Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake located in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The lake itself is easily accessed from the Icefields Parkway. It was named for Ebenezer William Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area. The lake is formed in a valley of the Waputik Range, between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak and Mount Jimmy Simpson, at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft). During the summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake, and these suspended rock particles give the lake a bright, turquoise color. Because of its bright color, photos of the lake often appear in illustrated books, and area around the lake is a popular sightseeing spot for tourists in the park. The lake is best seen from Bow Summit, the highest point on the Icefield Parkway. The lake is fed by the Peyto Creek, which drains water from the Caldron Lake and Peyto Glacier (part of the Wapta Icefield), and flows into the Mistaya River. Background Information: / Bryce Canyon National Park is a national park located in southwestern Utah in the United States. Contained within the park is Bryce Canyon. Despite its name, this is not actually a canyon, but rather a giant natural amphitheater created by erosion along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to its geological structures, called hoodoos, formed from wind, water, and ice erosion of the river and lakebed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views to visitors. Another storm off the Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park just south of Sydney. I just realised I’ve got all these storm shots from the last couple of years that I haven’t got around to posting and as I don’t have enough yet on RB to create a calendar I thought I’d better get onto it. / How to describe the beauty of this night from a couple of years ago? I’ve never seen a storm go through anything like the transitions of this one. It started out in the most simple and minimalist of ways – just the odd bolt of lightning with a band of teal light sandwiched between an almost jet black band of cloud and an equally black ocean. Gradually, over a couple of hours the storm gathered into itself and moved into this almost apocalyptic display of red and purple at different times until it produced what looks to me almost like a mushroom cloud. It slowly then began to fragment into ragged streams of ghost-like clouds with the intense brilliance of the stars in between. / And with this gift the most exquisite solitude – not another soul did I see.

Ross Bay, Loch Lien, Ireland I saw the challenge in the Woman Photographer, and could not resist putting this one in. This was an HDR shot (7exposures (+/-3EV).
