Pop Art is a visual art movement that emerged in the mid 1950s in Britain and in parallel in the late 1950s in the United States. Pop Art challenged tradition by asserting that an artist’s use of the mass produced visual commodities of popular culture is contiguous with the perspective of Fine Art since Pop removes the material from its context and isolates the object, or combines it with other objects, for contemplation. The concept of Pop Art refers not as much to the art itself as to the attitudes that led to it.

Barack Hussein Obama II ( born August 4, 1961) is an American politician and the winner of the presidential election of November 4, 2008. He is currently the President-elect of the United States of America, and is expected to take office as the forty-fourth President of the United States on January 20, 2009. He is also the incumbent junior United States Senator from Illinois. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-- / Obama is the first African American to be elected President of the United States,and was the first African American to be nominated for President by a major U.S. political party. During the 110th Congress, he helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel. Obama announced his presidential campaign in February 2007, and was formally nominated at the 2008 Democratic National Convention with Delaware senator Joe Biden as his running mate.
