  • I brought this bloom home on Thursday and before I could even think about putting it in the ground a herd of bees came over, you heard me, a herd of bees, it was crazy, they were working so fast it was hard to get a photo, they made their way around in circles and took off, more would come. They were very excited about the new bloom at the Henderson residence. Burnsville, MN

  • At some point in the last two years, I fell in love with taking pictures of my own hair. Perhaps love is the wrong word, maybe obsession would be a more accurate description. This is the very first of a long line of hair shots. The reason I love taking pictures of hair is the abstract shapes that tend to appear of their own accord. The hair twists and shifts like fire, turns into caves and electricity. Every time is exciting, and almost every time is something new and different.

  • I think too many macro shots concentrate on the harshness of the close-up view, instead of showing how things can be smooth and soft, all the way down to the core. Or something like that. One of my first macro shots, it made me realize how much I loved shooting in color.

  • I always feel slightly guilty when editing photos of nature, as if I’m accusing the universe of not being bold enough, colorful enough, exciting enough. Which simply is not the case. Anyway, I found this shell, on a horribly rainy and cold day, during a study break. Rainbows make everything just that little bit nicer. :)
