  • With a heavy NE swell closing down most of the beaches along Australia’s East Coast over new year, not even the pools are safe. In a somewhat typical Aussie understatement, the sign at North Curl Curl pool on Sydney’s Northern Beaches says “Pool Closed, Dangerous Conditions” and that’s if you can get close enough to read it without being washed away. A new years day swim to shake out the NYE cobwebs from the previous night is pretty much out of the question. While I was there, there were some much bigger waves/sprays but this one was pretty solid and nicely balanced the image with the pool. There should probably also be a sign that says “Don’t stand so close to the pool taking photographs” or shoot telephoto from a distance rather than wideangle. But then what’s the fun in that? Although the two feet of water swirling around below me was a bit dicey at times.

  • I love how water clings to different objects and creates such shapes… This is just an ordinary dandelion puffy thing after it rained one day. Taken with a Sigma 105mm macro lens…

  • You know the grips in a water bottle… well that’s what this is. I took the aquafina label off, and put some colorful wrapping paper behind it. There was a few bubbles in the water, which looked cool with the texture of the bottle. It looks like a droplet continuously dropping into a puddle to me…haha. Enjoy! I used my 105mm macro lens for this.

  • Lucky, our female labrador/german shepherd mix, seems to be pleading with me to go and play with her in the snow. She was moving a lot and I haven’t been able to get a clear sharp shot with her completely in the frame. I kept this shot anyway just because I love the look in her eyes. Lucky has been rescued from the shelter in Montreal a year ago by my sister. She was sick with kennel cough and needed a temporary foster family to bring her back to health. One month later, she came to live with us permanently because my sister could not bring herself to send her back to the shelter. We are all very fond of her. • This is simply, milk with green food dye and a spot light shining down into it. The dye eventually spread through it, making it look quite toxic. I layered the image once, dulling the colour on one layer, and brightening on the other. Slight crop of original. The vivid lighting gave me high contrast and accentuated the darkness of the green centre.
