One late afternoon while sitting and relaxing on the balcony of our room at the hotel, after a long and straining roasting day :)) at the Las Galeras beach:)), I was listening and admiring the wonderful music provided by the multiple birds in the surrounding gardens…I heard a ruffle of coconut leafs just beside the ramp of my balcony, turned my head and just before my eyes, spotted a rare sight …a green heron was just standing on a branch leaning and looking down at the ground under , luck was on my side as I had my camera close by on the little patio table , just in time to put it on the ramp of the balcony and aimed at the bird before he flew down on the grass probably to look at what seemed to be the egg that had just fallen out of his nest. This is just a tiny area on my window (about and inch), and when it’s very cold out, the crystals and frost designs are just like a silver forest in the snow. Here in Canada, especially on the prairies – we have frost and snow from November to March. I’m quite proud to see how Canadians do their best with coping with the 5-6 months of cold. Hockey, Skiing, Skating, Curling, Snowmobiling, or simply enjoying even the little details of frost! We make the best of the cold as well as our wonderful summers.

This male cardinal is oh so close to getting his adult pkumage. and he will be a magnificent specimen. He is so proud, with his alert pose, and his tuft raised high. Due to the dark, dreary day, iused an external flash, and I like the results.
This oil painting is of a blossom of the Magnolia tree and is painted on a 9 X 12 stretched canvas. Every year I go take a photographs of the neighbors huge Magnolia tree because the blossoms are just so gorgeous. So, this year I decided to try to paint what I have photographed for years. / This Oil Painting was created in my Grants Pass, Oregon Studio FEATURED in / Impressionist Art / Blooming Trees / Cee’s Artsy Friends /

This is some gorgeous organic rainbow chard. Shot from this angle each leaf reminded me of the Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton.

Goois Nature Reserve – Bussum – the Netherlands There were just so many fungi that morning, in so many different shapes, colours and conditions – and I felt I had to portrait each one of them :) On a fallen tree, I found lots of these brownish-white, slimy fungi, brilliant in the sun… A fly found it a nice place to have a little break in the sun, seemingly :) Photograph made with Pentax K10D camera and Tamron 70-300mm Tele-macro1:2 lens Because of the beauty shown in this picture: / SAFE and PROTECT our woods and natural places! / Comments and feed-back always welcome. Thanks for looking :) See all of my Fungi pics here / Natural levels and curves
I took a walk today along a gray wooded path (in central Jersey) with a white cloudy sky overhead. Every so often, a tiny snow flurry would land on my camera. In the midst of all this gray and white, was a beautiful bright wild red berry tree. After getting home and uploading the photos, I started thinking about the color red and Jesus, as the season is upon us. Of course, He’s not just the babe in the manger. The Coloring Song. / By Petra / Words and Music by David Eden. Red is the Color of the blood that flowed / Down the face of Someone who loved us so / He’s the perfect Man, He’s the Lord’s own son / He’s the Lamb of God, He’s the only One / That can give us life, that can make us grow, / That can make the love between us flow. Blue is the color of a heart so cold / That will not bend when the story’s told / Of the love of God for a sinful race / Of the blood that flowed down Jesus face / That can give us life, that can make us grow, / That can keep our hearts from growing cold. Gold is the color of the morning sun / That shines so freely on everyone / It’s the sun above that keeps us warm / It’s the Son of Love, that calms the storm / That can give us life, that can make us grow, / That can turn our mornings into gold. Brown is the color of the Autumn leaves / When the winter comes to the barren trees / There is birth, there is death, there is a plan / And there’s just one God and there’s just one man / That can give us life, that can make us grow, / That can make our sins as white as snow. That can give us life, that can make us grow, / That can turn our mornings into gold. / That can give us life, that can make us grow, / That can keep our hearts from growing cold. / That can give us life, that can make us grow, / That can make the love between us flow. 07 Dec 2009
