  • I picked this rose out of my garden today (smells amazing by the way!!), decided to play around with lighting and this was the effect I achieved. Anyway, I like this one for a first attempt so I thought I will put this one up for a while to hopefully get some constructive criticism.. Also, I would love to know if this photo is to dark or light, I was trying to re-calibrate my monitor and I think I’ve might of messed it up! Anyway enjoy :o) P.S this photo is 100% natural… / Shot with Nikon D200

  • My mom, Charmian, is the most AMAZING person – warm, talented, compassionate, energetic, accomplished, enthusiastic, sympathetic, witty, intelligent and loving. She can sail a yacht and play the drums. She cycles in bike races, and thinks nothing of cycling 80km just for fun. She can do woodwork, paint pictures and so many other things that I can’t list them all. And she can garden – her garden is extraordinary, full of lavish beauty and breathtakingly delightful. If I was any good at landscape photography I would have shown you just how good she is, but seeing as I’m not, I thought I would show you just one of the hundreds of stunning roses she grows. Taken after a morning of rain at her house in Magoebaskloof, South Africa. Featured in 1:1 Macro Photography / Featured in Extreme Close Ups / —November 2009 -- thank you very very much! • Another of my mom’s marvellous roses – her whole garden was just so beautiful after the rain that I couldn’t stop taking photographs, everything was so magically enhanced by the strings and strings of water drop beads. “Life is like a rose….More exquisite and precious when shared with others.” / Jane Oechsle Lauer —quote kindly provided by Bill -- thank you!
