I know I’ve got a lot of HDR and humor, but I do take some serious shots. / Sigma 150mm macro + Simga 2x TC / This little guy was super patient with me! Even after this he didn’t fly away.
This shot was taken in my backyard, just as this praying mantis was passing in front of a yellow mum !

The Piano (Man)tis brings down the house with this raucous encore number !
This colorful creature with the bladder problem is a leafhopper!
Caught this guy hanging out on my backdoor screen!
I’m bored, have a head cold and I’m stuck at home so I had to try and use my imagination with what I had around the house! I don’t know if I’ll keep this one up, I want to try and perfect it. It’s actually just a water drop on top of a tiny bougainvillea flower.. This can give you an idea of how tiny this actually is! Ohh, and this has not received any post processing.
This hoverfly mistakenly wandered into the forbidden “hippie section” of my backyard garden!
This guy got a little carried away at this afternoon’s pollen party !
This yellow flower crab spider sits motionless on yellow flowers and then surprises it’s prey. Here, a helpless bee is easy pickens . The yellow flower crab spider blends in seemlessly in yellow flowers, and is practically invisible to the naked eye. I checked in on this guy all day. He sat patiently for 12 hours, until the moment was just right. He uses no webs-just camouflage and precision timing! / Nature is amazing! (Windsor, CT.)
Red lily beetles making the most of spring in a garden in Buckinghamshire, England
As it started to rain, I thought to myself, “if he’s sticking around, then so am I. As the rain drops started piling up on both of us, I managed to capture this pretty scene before the real deluge began !

Neither the mantis nor myself were smart enough to come out of the rain, so we just hung out together until the brief sunshower passed us by !
The stress is starting to clearly show on the face of Apollo 13 astronaut , Jim Lovell, as he desperately tries to maneuver the spacecraft back into earth orbit ! (Windsor, CT.)
I don’t often see monarch butterflies, so when I spotted this one at Hodges Gardens near Many, Louisiana, I employed my husband’s help in trying to get a good shot at it. Tommy stood guard at the upper level of the butterfly garden while I posted myself in the lower portion. Thanks to my husband’s keen eye, I finally relocated the elusive flutterer and got this photo of it to which I’ve applied some PS filters.

The closer we get to insect life.. the more alien their world becomes! A photo I took of a dragonfly in China, edited using an infrared filter to give the image an “alien” look and feel to it. What does this photo say to you? How does it make you feel? I would be happy to hear your thoughts on this image. Please, don’t forget to tell others if you have enjoyed this piece!
