A clone. ... Basically both me. Two seperate shots taken and blended in PS2.

Clones is about the progression of science and it’s potential for the future. I could debate the merit of such an advance vs the potential for abuse however, I think the future is forever changed with this one advance. Digital art 1st Place winner in the Abstract Realism Challenge on Abstract Portraits.

“Filled with sand and stitched with twine and hair The Clones emotions were slow to surface. His button eyes gave little away. His kindness disguised by the harsh metal teeth of his zip-like mouth. The stained and torn rags of their skin had been bleached …...she gently unpicked a strand of hair and sewed all that lay within into the very centre of The Clone. The desert sand gave the clones a bovine like calmness that some people found unerving.” Written words from around the canvas. Canvas was slashed and stitched. Zip works. (some influence from Brett Whiteleys work)

I came across this photo that I had forgotten about. I took the shot in NYC while passing a store. It was the display window. I desaturated it to B&W and added a bit of color and more darkness for an eerie sort of feeling—-as if it really is a doll factory. It’s as if it’s the future…HUMAN CLONES in the making. / It has a sort of CURRENT ISSUES feeling…and so I am adding this image to my CURRENT ISSUES Group. Yikes….Cloning. Would you like a clone of yourself? Actually, if I could…I’d make a baby clone of me. Yes. :)

This is the man behind the camera. You can’t have pretty subjects all the time, life is not perfect.

This started out as a calligrapy style pattern done with black texta on a white background then I fiddled with it and ended up highlighting the central character who seems to be doing some thing sporty. This made me think about the song “Little Boxes” especially the bit that talks about “and they turn out all the same”. Well all the pattern is the same but the central character stands out by dint of its position. My comment is that even if society tries to make you a clone you can find a way to stand out. Hope you enjoy my convoluted thoughts and pic.
