The old clock in the hall struck two A.M. Miss Toward stirred in her sleep, more a tired awareness, as she lay there, in her hole in the wall bed in the kitchen, she could still see the pale amber glow, the remains of last nights fire, still smoldering in the old black range, that served as fireplace, waterheater, and cooker. / As she lay there in the warm blackness, she thought this must have been what it was like in her Mothers womb, she tried to think back, even further back than she had ever remembered before, before the first cries of birth, as the midwife had slapped her minute old bum, on that first grey morning all those years ago in the Rottenrow Maternity Hospital, Glasgow. / As the grey mists of time swirled around before her still closed eyes, she thought of her old Mother, febble and ill, in the front room, she had heard the rasping breaths and the low sporadic moans and thought when will this end, when will I be free. / Its not that she didn’t love her Mother, she did with all her heart, hadn’t the old lady looked after her, ever since her dear Father died when she was only three. / Her mother had been a dressmaker of some standing in the City, and the young Agnes, was taken around all the large houses of Garnethill, Park Circus, and the great mansions of Great Western Rd, where her Mothers more wealthy patrons lived, but that was many years ago, now she was the provider, working all hours in the shipping company offices in Sauchiehall St, even busier now the great war was over. There's a Fishy Feature...on the Homepage
by Carrie GlennSeptember 2008 ...That Fish Is Back Again!!!!!...
September 2008 ...That Fish Is Back Again!!!!! :D / Everyone’s artwork looks fantastic and thank you so much for the honor!!! ....and the fish thanks you too… ;) Mixed Media, 20” x 20” A Fish Out Of Water There’s more ocean in fish than fish in the ocean… Nature is wise, but Mankind… just bumbling fools. Learn from the living, watch water in motion, Don’t waste your time staring at small stagnant pools. Fish are content to live their life in water, Water is after all their life’s element. There’s no need for them to be an “achiever,” Living, staying alive… that’s accomplishment. But there was one fish wanting something “better”, He wanted “achievement,” he wanted a “first.” He leapt out of water, fins in quick flutter, Taking fast to the sky… but soon died of thirst… / Poem by Peter. J. Oszmann © 2003 / (Check out his other written works they are a delight!) You can contact Carrie at: carrie@carrieglennstudios.com and please visit Carrie Glenn Studios /

Just wanted to let you know that I will be away for the next week and won’t be able to access RB as much as I would like….(I’m suffering withdrawals already..). My son has won tickets to see Bob The Builder so we are off to Sydney to stay with my parents…just in time for the APEC Conference. (Yay) / They live relatively near the beach, so because they can look after the boys, I think I’ll get a chance to get some stupid o’clock shots in. Hope you check out the last few images I uploaded and I’ll be sure to catch up with everyones latest uploads when I return. See ya / Naomi.

Today was one of ‘those days’ were you just want to get the hell out of there and go home and that last hour just crawls and crawls and crawls and suddenly you realise all these irritating little habits in people you otherwise like and then you wonder if it’s rude to lean forward and say “speak clearly” or to lean over and say “breath quietly” and then you realise YOU are doing it too. You are mumbling and breathing loudly and there is nothing you can do about it. Well I’m home now and for some reason I feel compelled to take photos of clocks and nice relaxing big wide spaces. Maybe I should put my clock in a big wide space and take a photo of that?

As most of you know, I’ve been MIA because of a horrid tooth problem. Well, due to this issue, my partner in crime, Mr Paul Rees-Jones won’t let me illustrate or edit out book (Good call Paully! I can barely see straight on these pills, let alone write or draw anything!!!) So…to keep my creative juices flowing (and to keep my mind off of my pain) I decided, once again I might add, to open up a Cafe Press store. Here is the link to my new shop. Thanks for taking the time to look…I do have to say I am very excited about having my designs on even more products! xoxoxoxox / Shannon

I was just talking to Keith Richardson in Port Melbourne Australia by bubble about the time difference between us. I have become very aware of the time differences between different places in the world since becoming a Redbubble addict. Quite often when I am up doing RB many of you are in bed or have insomnia so anything I post will not be seen by you until you wake up. To keep up with the times where every one is I found a quick little web page that shows the world as country maps. You move the mouse from country to country and it tells you the present time there. That is how I keep up with you guys. The web site is (http://www.qlock.com/time/ ) Thought this might be something the rest of you could use. Byron

Hello and good evening Bubblers It’s been a busy first day home, went to watch the sunrise, wasn’t too successful as rather cloudy. The sun made a brief appearance today. Stopped at my Mum’s on the way home for a coffee and toast and to catch up on the week just passed. Mum’s not too well at the moment, so I spent some time with her before going home to the chores. Finished those and have now been working on my photos, so many but before I can download them I have to go through what I already have and be ruthless and delete, delete, delete to free up some space for new photos. Have a great Sunday fellow Bubblers and don’t forget to put your clocks back tonight fellow Brits.

This song must have been released when I was oh, about Jared and Imogene’s age. Possibly much younger. Here are the original performers, The Vogues on their local version of Countdown back in 1965. Check out those go-go girls! The sound is not so great there, unfortunately. Here’s a much better copy with Drew Carey featuring in the visuals. Never worked in a place that looked that happy… must be something in the water. A slower version here by Hal Ketchum And a – well, different version by Julian Cope / “It’s a five o’clock shadow when the missile blows…” Okay, Julian. Whatever.

Clock Face Designs
by Ginny Schmidt...
Soon analog will be a thing of the past; digital is taking over everything. I feel sorry for a generation of kids who will have no sense of personal achievement in learning “how to tell time.” No trick to it, when digital timepieces just tell you right off. / / With everything else rushing headlong into the digital age, the one piece of analog technology I would hope still has a place in our lives is clocks. Grandfather clocks, ornate timepieces, clear-faced watches that let you see all the little gears whirring around inside, the sound of tick, tock, tick, tock. Of course, even battery operated analog clocks don’t say “tick, tock” anymore. What a pity. However. In a crusade to save analog clocks from extinction, I have begun a collection of clock face designs. When ordered as a mounted print on that wonderfully strong yet light weight board that RB uses to mount them, almost any picture could be a clock. All you have to do is drill a hole in it and add hands and a battery operated clock mechanism, available at almost any craft store. Then, all you’d have to do is stick something on the back to hold it away from the wall … I think those clock battery mechanisms are less than an inch deep … and there you’ve got a unique clock. / / Maybe other RB’ers will get on the bandwagon, maybe this idea of creating art as clock faces will catch on, or maybe it won’t. Either way, these designs can all be converted into clocks, and I hope you like them. I’ve had a lot of fun coming up with them so far.
