“I Like to Sit Among the Trees”, an illustrated poem about Blinko, the WonderGnome, who needed a break now and then from his job as fortune-teller, mind-reader, and weight-guesser with the “World Famous Travelling Belgian Clock Circus” – please see www.belgianclockcircus.blogspot.com for further verbage on that phenomenon. [” ... it did him well to eat a lost truant now and then, and this was an excellent place to find them – wandering about in a thorn-licked daze, lost in the glens, way, way after porridge time and way past loosing the starch in their Buster Brown collar, they would come upon the unlikely sight of this large blue-lit jin squishing a thoroughly vanquished white truck, and while their eyes were still bugging, he would pounce, and that was that.” – from Diedre’s Strange Adventure” by Edward Huse, 2008, all RR.] This is a little piece of mild surrealism with the digital and with seashore image handling software on a mac (seashore hates saving png files but otherwise I like it plenty and of course the mac is hell on wheels) – having a lot to do with late afternoon walks in unfamilar woodland or rural surroundings at a time of dusk when the lights bring out different shapes and sounds take on new forms, this artwork is meant to be a tale of a sudden chill in the air one crisp Spring eve and this artwork is in it’s entirety © Copyright by Edward Huse, 2008, edhuse.com, all RR.
Consulting summer’s clock, / by Emily Dickinson / Consulting summer’s clock, / But half the hours remain. / I ascertain it with a shock— / I shall not look again. / The second half of joy / Is shorter than the first. / The truth I do not dare to know / I muffle with a jest.

The Chapel of the Revelation of the Lord is the most valuable part of the chateau in Smiřice, Czech Republic. It was built in 1699-1713 in the style of High Baroque on a unique ellipse groundplan with curved walls. The chapel’s architect was probably either Christoph Dienzenhofer or Giovanni B. Santini; the building plans were unfortunately lost in fire and the high baroque building contains architectural elements typical for both of them. This photograph brings back many nice memories to me; I have spent great years of my childhood in Smiřice. The chaple was in a very bad state at that time and I was very happy to see it repaired several years ago. The town council succeeded in turning it into a beautiful cultural venue, a place of classical music festivals visited by people from the whole republic as well as foreign quests. December 2001. Canon EOS 500N, Canon 28-80. B&W negative: Kodak Professional T-MAX 100 (TMX 5052). Post-processing: retouch, distortion correction, crop.

A close-up of the spherical, fluffy white “clock” of a mature dandelion, with it’s seeds waiting to catch the first breeze to carry them away.
This picture is from an image set submitted for a photography course. The set was titled “Almost Black & White”. My aim was to capture images of predominantly black and white subjects in colour.
