Piece Five in my HSC body of work. The series in total is called “Ascendancy” which means domination or influincing figure, but also has connotations to the ascention of Mary in Christianity. Basically what i tried to do was to show how humanity’s expression of faith has changed, evolved, or even stayed the same. “The Annointment” refers to Mary Magdelane’s annointment of the body of Christ. Compressed Charcoal on Paper I would like to thank the wonderful photographer who allowed me to use his brilliant photographs as references throughout the series: mehmet turgut . His page on DeviantART is (http://mehmeturgut.deviantart.com/) and the link to the particular photo for this piece is (http://mehmeturgut.deviantart.com/art/gravity-part-2h-26912261)
It’s paradoxical how we can find ourselves when we lose ourselves. When we got “lost” in the wonder of God’s creation, we find something deep and abiding within. Standing under this majestic old oak which has defied the force of gravity by remaining upright in spite of a badly eroded base, a person gets lost in the mystery and the beauty of the exposed tangle of roots but finds a sense of awe and wonder in the Creator who makes the seemingly impossible possible.
Water clinging to a cactus…
I love how water clings to different objects and creates such shapes… This is just an ordinary dandelion puffy thing after it rained one day. Taken with a Sigma 105mm macro lens…
Some Fear death, / Some Fear life, / Some Fear love, / Most fear becoming invisible and being forgotten….
Caught this tuft of grass reaching for the last light of the day. A Dragonfly is also settling in for the night, opposite the white feather that is just clinging on.
Statue of an unknown soldier going off to war.
I never realized how symmetrical condensation was… hmm…. This was the result of boredom one night… and I rather like it now. Shot in tungsten for the blue tone and back lit by my computer. I think I also used my flash for this one too… Enjoy!
The ghost whisperer communicates with earthbound spirits, ghosts who cling to the living because they have unfinished business that prevents them from moving beyond the familiar plane of existence that we call life. Explore the spiritual side of life and death, fear not the consequences of exploring this “unconventional” world.

An old piece from my portfolio.
