  • The Rock Climbing Chipmunk
    by Lori Peters

    US$3.42–US$91.20

This chipmunk and a lot of its friends live in the canyon at Seven Falls. There are signs that say, “Chipmunk Crossing.”

  • At the very north end of the Grampians the major ranges covered with trees give way to rocky bluffs, caves and some of the best rock climbing anywhere in Australia. Summery Day valley is the ‘entry level’ location here – it’s a series of beautiful cliffs in a horse shoe arena. Always a spot in the sun, always a spot in the shade, 30min walk up to a great camping / sunset spot. Just writing about it makes me long to be there.

“The air that was rushing into my lungs was icy cold. The climb to the top was slow and exhausting. I hitched my backpack over my shoulder trying to ease the weight somewhat. As we reached the summit I knew with one glance that it was all worth it….........” / Macro photograph from a rock! /

  • Waiting for the light
    by Melinda Kerr

    US$5.13–US$136.80

Been in the south of Tassie for four days shooting stills for a client. Me the Creative Director with Andrew the Art Director and Garth the professional photographer. We had to climb down a 100 metre cliff face, normally out of bounds but opened to us by the kind lighthouse keeper. Was a seriously hairy climb! But it led us to an untouched, pristine and rarely shot location (which will remain our secret :). This is a photo I took whilst Garth and Andrew sat on a rocky outcrop waiting for the light to be perfect. – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Black & white photography – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Monotone photography

  • Mountain Highway Pass
    by Joanne A. Bradley

    US$3.99–US$106.40

Taken on Highway 16 North in the White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire, USA on Saturday May 17, 2008. The view is looking towards Mt Washington, the highest peak on the Eastern seaboard. We took the Auto Drive Route up the mountain when we arrived there but it does not resemble this road in any way. It is treacherous, with shear drop offs on each side, just room enough for two cars, but they ask that people coming down the mountain yield to travellers going up. The top 4000 ft of the mountain was off limits due to weather conditions: snow and ice, but will open later in the season. /

  • View From The Top
    by Joanne A. Bradley

    US$3.99–US$106.40

Taken at the 4000ft level of Mt Washington, part of the presidential range of the the White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire USA on Saturday May 17th 2008. It was a beautiful day, but much colder at this level. The top additional 4000ft was closed to tourists due to weather conditions: ice and snow, but will open later in the season. All I could think of was John Denver’s song: Rocky Mountain High. It is not the Rockies but the highest elevation I have been so far!

  • Wilhelmina Falls
    by Travis Easton

    US$3.80–US$101.33

A slightly more serious shot of the Falls. Went to Wilhelmina Falls today after work and walked all over these huge slabs. I have done a lot of rockclimbing in my past so am fairly sure of my technique in scrambling over this sort of terrain. It’s about keeping your weight over your feet and about keeping up some momentum. High it’s very counter instinctive to move fast but it seems to be the safest way. Upon getting to the overlap where the water freefalls there was a bit of moss and dirt in some cracks that I was obliged to use and before I knew it my boots were wet and dirty with a fraction of their former friction. In my precarious stance I attempted to clean them and after ten minutes or so was happy to move on now very aware of my precarious location since I’d just stared it in the face for a while. Maybe I should of paid attention to that sign ;-) Lovely spot, went there in the summer with kids, mum, sister and her kids lovely walk but the advertised perennial nature of the falls didn’t live up to expectations with it being bone dry. Great to see it today with heaps of water. 11/9/2008 To check out other shots from this area see my Yarra Ranges gallery. • Mt Bishop
    by Travis Easton

    US$3.80–US$101.33

As a keen rock-climber Mt Bishop has always held a slightly mythical fascination for me. Rock-climbers have named the giant tor on its peak ‘whale rock’ and the thinner of the two cracks on its left hand side has a classic grade 21 rock climb up it called ‘Cachalot’ which was the first significant free climb route completed at the Prom in 1977. I haven’t actually climbed it but some lines are just so bold and perfect that they just seem to capture the imagination. On a purely aesthetic level I find its combination of granite slabs, tors and vegetation very striking and due to its sentinel like presence guarding the road approach to Tidal River, it is a mountain that every Prom visitor is familiar with. For many the sight of it signifies the moment when you know you’ve returned to the magical place that is the Prom. For more shots from this area check out my Wilsons Promontory gallery. • Between Darkness and Light
    by Travis Easton

    US$3.80–US$101.33

Another shot from my Wilhelmina Falls trip yesterday. Can’t quite decide whether this is a really unique and creative shot or a technique disaster. Interested to know what y’all think out there.
