  • Tree climbing carried to a new dimension! There are three climbing trees in Western Australia and they are all within about a 33 kms radius of the timber town of Pemberton. All are around 65 metres high and when there is any sort of breeze blowing they do tend to sway rather alarmingly, especially when you get nearer to the top where, I should add, there is a well constructed viewing hut. How these trees were originally pegged is a story in itself and I am currently seeking permission to show a very old photo of one of the pioneer woodmen which will blow you away!! / Anyway, my brother in law took this photo of me in the act of climbing the Diamond Tree in the Karri forest between Manjimup and Pemberton. We would, I suppose, be about 320/330 kms south of Perth

  • This is Tayla, a kitten from a semi-feral mother cat who showed up unexpectedly in my backyard. Tayla is climbing down after an excursion in a big oak tree. Her mother is siamese, and her dad was just plain tabby. :) Tayla spent the first few months of her life outside, without any human contact. You would never know now that she was considered feral, she is a very affectionate cat who loves being pet and played with. You can tell by thius picture she still loves playing outside. However she is just as comfortable playing inside, or curling up in her favorite spot in our sun room for a long nap. I plan to donate a portion of sales of any of my cat pictures to our local cat rescue organization SOCKS (Save Our Cats and Kittens). They are a great non-profit organization and no kill shelter that rescues hundreds of cats from being euthanized every year. Featured in the Rescued Pets Group Thank you!

  • This is my son Aaron, he is 13 . This is a tree in our yard. Ever since he was just a little guy he loved to climb trees. The first tree he loved climbing we had to kill it because our neighbors had just put in a paved driveway and then little trees were breaking through the blacktop pavement. / But this tree has grown tall enough that he loves to climb this one just as much as he did the other one.

  • Featured in Family Unlimited. It took me a few trys to get her in a tree, but once I did, I couldn’t get her out. This girl brings SO MUCH joy in my life.

  • A scene in the Karri forest between the West Australian country towns of Manjimup and Pemberton. Just out of shot is one of three climbing trees that still exist in this region. / Karri (eucalyptus diversicolor) is the world’s third tallest growing tree and has been known to attain heights approaching 90 metres. The climbing trees, which were originally intended as forest fire look out posts, are around 65 metres. / Several of our forests have well maintained walking trails and this particular one is just a shorty, enough to allow novice walkers to sample the delights of these majestic trees.

  • Driving through Venus Bay, Victroria, I spoted a koala sitting at the side of the road. I quickly pulled over and grabbed the camera. First I scared it into the bush, away form the dangers of the road. / The koala was kind enough to climb the tree only half way (so I could get a shot of it form it’s level) and posed for a minute, then when I was finished it climed higher and scared a possum off it’s branch. Canon EOS 450D Ef-S 55-250mm / Tv 1/160sec / Av f/5.6 / ISO 400 Converted form RAW
