  • My Country
    by Globalphotos

    US$4.28–US$114.00

My Country The love of field and coppice, / Of green and shaded lanes. / Of ordered woods and gardens / Is running in your veins, / Strong love of grey-blue distance / Brown streams and soft dim skies / I know but cannot share it, / My love is otherwise. I love a sunburnt country, / A land of sweeping plains, / Of ragged mountain ranges, / Of droughts and flooding rains. / I love her far horizons, / I love her jewel-sea, / Her beauty and her terror - / The wide brown land for me! A stark white ring-barked forest / All tragic to the moon, / The sapphire-misted mountains, / The hot gold hush of noon. / Green tangle of the brushes, / Where lithe lianas coil, / And orchids deck the tree-tops / And ferns the warm dark soil. Core of my heart, my country! / Her pitiless blue sky, / When sick at heart, around us, / We see the cattle die- / But then the grey clouds gather, / And we can bless again / The drumming of an army, / The steady, soaking rain. Core of my heart, my country! / Land of the Rainbow Gold, / For flood and fire and famine, / She pays us back threefold- / Over the thirsty paddocks, / Watch, after many days, / The filmy veil of greenness / That thickens as we gaze. An opal-hearted country, / A wilful, lavish land- / All you who have not loved her, / You will not understand- / Though earth holds many splendours, / Wherever I may die, / I know to what brown country / My homing thoughts will fly. • "Stormy Thursday"
    by Phil Thomson IPA

Some of the wild surf at Bells Beach and Winki Pop, created as a result of the strong, gale force winds during the previous day.

  • "The Bells Parade"
    by Phil Thomson IPA

    US$3.99–US$106.40

The constant parade of swells breaking at Bells Beach always thrills a surfer when they arrive and see this view from the carpark. Although on this day, it was only for the ‘brave and daring’ as the surf was the result of a very severe storm the previous day and was very heavy and a bit messy.

  • From my collection: Na Ka Pueo / Kiss the Earth ~ Koki Beach and Ka Iwi ‘O Pele, Maui Hawai’i The iron rich red volcanic sand of beautiful Koki Beach, Hana Maui Hawai’i. One of my favourite beaches on Maui in Hana near Hamoa on the east coastal shoreline. This beautiful red sand beach is about one mile from Hana on Haneo’o Road. On Highway 31, over a half mile past Mile Marker 51 beyond Hana town, you’ll come to a road on the makai side of the highway named Haneo’o Road. The hill is actually an eroding cinder cone known as Ka Iwi ‘o Pele (the bones of Pele). Driving down Haneo’o Road, the rugged cliffs give way to a beautiful coastal view. As you continue down towards the shore you will see the beautiful ‘Alau Island offshore. About 100 yards down the road as it starts to level off, you’ll notice a pull off to the left. This is the Koki Beach overlook. From here you can also get an excellent view of ‘Alau Island with its swaying palms directly offshore. This beautiful area has been reclaimed by the Hawaiian Kingdom Government and that is a good thing. Look to your left and you’ll also be able to view a lava sea arch in the distance on the rocky coast. Use extreme caution when swimming. There are dangerous rip tides! Take Highway 360 past Hana. Turn left on Haneo’o Road. Koki Beach is the first beach on the left. “Some historians claim that sometime around the fourth or fifth century A.D., the first planned migrations came from the Marquesas, in extreme eastern Polynesia. For five centuries the Marquesans settled and lived peacefully on the new land – Hawai’i. Around 1,200 A.D., the Tahitians arrived and subjugated the settled islanders. Tahitian customs, legends, and language influenced the Hawaiian way of life.” “Walk and touch peace every moment. / Walk and touch happiness every moment. / Each step brings a fresh breeze. / Each step makes a flower bloom. / Kiss the Earth with your feet. / Bring the Earth your love and happiness. / The Earth will be safe when we feel safe in ourselves.” / By Thich Nhat Hanh
