After shooting the early light of the morning down at Cape Schanck I thought I’d take a quick shot of the sun light reflecting off the large boulders in this little cove. I love the warm colours and shapes of wet boulders in the sun. If you ever go down to this place when the tied is high and the weather a little on the wild side, the massive waves that come crashing in to this little space throw these boulders around making an awesome rumbling sound. A must see if you live close enough to the Mornington Peninsula.

I can still remember my very first camera that my parents had given to me when I was about 8 years old. I took that camera everywhere and snapped shots of anything and everything, however it wasn’t until much later in life that I was really bitten by the photography bug. I was planning a big move to the Canadian Rockies and thought now is the perfect time to buy my new camera gear for shooting wildlife. I bought all the equipment I needed that would put me up close with all the wildlife that the mountains had to offer. So off I went chasing Bears, Bighorn sheep, Moose, Elk and Wolves… pretty much any critter I could capture with my lens. It was a fascinating and thrilling experience. Then fate brought to me a girl and she would change my life forever… Newfoundland is where I now call home, with my beautiful wife and baby son. This province is a photographer’s paradise. The scenes change from day to day and the opportunities for capturing them are endless. With my camera in tow I now begin my journey through Newfoundland, photographing and capturing her raw and rugged beauty to share with the world. I hope you enjoy the photographs presented here. The rugged and treacherous coastlines give way only to the unforgiving North Atlantic Ocean. It is a coastline marked with lighthouses that act as ever watching sentinels to welcome weary travellers home. It is a land of beautiful & quaint coastal towns, villages and cities. Newfoundland is a land visited by frozen giants from the North that create a sense of awe when seen by human eyes as they float down what is known as “Iceberg alley”. It is a land visited by massive whales during the summer that attract multitudes to the shorelines. It is a land rich in history and folklore and it is a land inhabited by a people who will welcome you with open arms. This shot was taken in The Water Run on the Coastal Walk in Royal NP just south of Sydney Australia. It was a wild and stormy evening and the sun just started to emerge from the clouds behind me as it was setting. The blue tint to the water comes for a very short period around sunset – you can just see it in any moving water at this time in the right light but the camera really picks it up. Taken at the Waterrun, Royal National Park just south of Sydney. The rainbow is from some wave spray and that’s a little waterfall off to the left. / This shot was taken at dusk about an hour before Poetry of Chaos. It was amazing watching the storm come in and the colours changing and the sea swell growing. One of the great privileges of living in this park is watching the same landscapes in a myriad of different moods depending on the weather and time of day. Definitely worth clicking on the photo to see it large. Part of the Raging Stillness series this is a blend of 10 X 30 second exposures taken as part of a series of 110 sequential images during a particularly lovely night storm we had a little while ago. You’re looking at 5minutes of the storm at its height. Taken at the Waterrun, Royal National Park, just south of Sydney at the same location as Poetry of Chaos and Falling Water Falling Light, but one month later. Really curious that at the same location in the park there were two rainbows in very similar positions but one month apart. I find strange coincidences like this happen a lot in the park – for example shooting storms off the cliffs over a couple of years I’ve found the lightning strikes are almost always in the same place for each storm. Night at Wattamolla Lagoon Falls under a full moon – the Lagoon was inky black under the moon – talk about Creature from the Black Lagoon material. Very spooky and very beautiful at the same time – not a soul around for miles (well none that I saw anyway), Shot at Wattamolla, Royal National Park, just south of Sydney. I’m temporally challenged so dawn shots are rare for me but a couple of times a year near to daylight saving change-overs the sun stops getting up at a silly hour and becomes rather more civilised. I was lucky enough to shoot this after a night of rain so the rock pool on top of the cliffs was full. Shot off Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park, Sydney.
