A fashion shoot in the Karroo, a beautiful semi-desert part of South Africa. The model was on top of a 100metre high cliff and I had to climb the opposite cliff face to get this shot. A really worthwhile effort..

I can still remember my very first camera that my parents had given to me when I was about 8 years old. I took that camera everywhere and snapped shots of anything and everything, however it wasn’t until much later in life that I was really bitten by the photography bug. I was planning a big move to the Canadian Rockies and thought now is the perfect time to buy my new camera gear for shooting wildlife. I bought all the equipment I needed that would put me up close with all the wildlife that the mountains had to offer. So off I went chasing Bears, Bighorn sheep, Moose, Elk and Wolves… pretty much any critter I could capture with my lens. It was a fascinating and thrilling experience. Then fate brought to me a girl and she would change my life forever… Newfoundland is where I now call home, with my beautiful wife and baby son. This province is a photographer’s paradise. The scenes change from day to day and the opportunities for capturing them are endless. With my camera in tow I now begin my journey through Newfoundland, photographing and capturing her raw and rugged beauty to share with the world. I hope you enjoy the photographs presented here. The cliff face shimmered slightly as the craft slipped softly into the blue. They hugged the sheer wall until they were well clear, then dipped into the powdered soft whiteness beneath. Geese returning to Alaska, framed against the Kenai mountain range across Cook Inlet. Signs and sounds of spring near our house, despite ice chunks in the inlet. Nikon D200 and a Nikkor 18-200mm at f/11 and 1/250 sec, -.3ev, using a circular polarizing filter. IS0 200. Converted from RAW to jpeg using Capture NX2. Light curve and slight crop. It also features some of the best rock climbing sites on the East Coast, its gem being Cathedral Ledge in Echo Lake State Park. The 500-foot (150 m) cliff overlooks Echo Lake from the west and the Saco River and the Saco River valley in the east.
