THis sunset image was taken at Peoppels Corner, intersection of NT,SA & Qld. It was taken across the claypan.
In Alice Springs you can find these calypans that are dry most of the year. The muddy water (5 cm approx) makes it look like a whole lake. Waited for the right moment of the sun to set on the ranges.
My most favourite spot in the world / LUCKY me, got the moon rise at sunset (behind me)
The claypan at Rainbow Valley was bone dry, but colourful.

This calendar features Currawinya National Park, in the far west of Queensland. It has beautiful Outback Scenery and is famous for its to lake very close together, one with salt water (Wyara) and the other with fresh water (Numalla). Our very favourite spot in the park is Corni Paroo, a waterhole in the Paroo River, which may well be our favourite spot in Australia.

Ilparpa Claypans, just outside Alice Springs. Usually this area is bone dry but this shot was taken after some heavy rains in Central Australia. The water lingered for quite some time on this occasion and it’s wonderful to see the stages that the claypans go through as the water recedes and the claypans become dry again.
Clay pans at moonrise, always dry but once a year we have enough rain to fill them with 2 inches of water. Alice Springs, NT, Australia Canon 400D
