  • Toned Black and White Photomontage From the Safara series..A contemplative woman photographed on a remote dry lake bed in the Mojave desert, a place that seems to breathe with a meditative emptiness. I wanted to create an image illustrating a woman’s inherent connection to the planet, that she was earth in her essential nature. The photo montage was made in camera. On a tripod the lake bed was photographed, then the film was backed up in the camera, and she was photographed on the same section of film, creating perfect registration of cracked earth blending into her figure.

  • Noodle the Cat hopped into a clay pot, and I run in for my camera. Here’s the result.

  • better image, as I promised. mixed media and oil colours, canvas on board, 30×50 cm thank you…............................. heart, / cristina

  • and because I love those kind of shades and had a little time to play, voila! enjoy!

  • Despite its discomforts, winter in South Dakota offers some of the most beautiful opportunities for photography. I took this picture at a county park near the Missouri river on a morning that was graced with new fallen snow and a dense fog that often hovers near the waters of the river. This image has sold 3 times as a large framed print from Tigert’s Art Gallery in downtown Vermillion, South Dakota. Converted to B/W after shooting (though you could hardly tell the difference if I hadn’t except that it removed a slight hint of blue in the background fog!) :0)

  • One of the most controversial fights in boxing history. Ali v Liston – 25th May 1965 Around about a minute into the bout Ali connecting with a quick, chopping right to Liston’s head as Liston was moving toward him. The moment ultimately ended the fight and became known as “the phantom punch” as most people ringside did not see it. Many claim that Liston had bet against himself and that he took a dive because as he owed money to the mafia, and some believe that fears for his safety from Nation of Islam extremists forced him to get the hell out of the entire situation quickly.

  • Taken at the local beach…rocks made up of mainly clay..

  • Female figure in mind body immersion with cracked earth.

  • I was commissioned to take some photos of hands in a variety of situations and activities for an organisation call Scripture Union for their website. Part of that collection was this shot of my friend throwing a pot. i was captivated by the way her hands worked the wet clay, moulding and shaping with care and precision. The bible describes in Jeremiah 18 how a potter who creates the vessel can destroys it when it is corrupted and fashions a new one. We are in the creators hand ready to be moulded for his purposes. With strength and care, the hand holds the clay. • Canon EOS-1Ds Mark ll / • 28-300mm IS zoom lens / • f/2.8 / • 1/15 / • Exposure Bias -1.00 / • ISO 160

  • We took a walk near home yesterday and came across a trench that had been dug for some cables. The clay that had been dug had dried and cracked in the sun.

The butterfly and birds were taken from my painting “Thoughts and Things” and the white flower is an old plastic earring….the teapot was given to me by my father who knows I collect tiny silver things like this…..from an op shop somewhere, thank you dad! I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

  • Taken during a dust storm recently, from Salt Clay Road, looking back over Cootamundra in the Riverina District of NSW. (It is a change to be shooting in dust instead of mist!) Cootamundra is possibly most well known for being the actual birthplace of cricket legend Sir Donald Bradman. It also lends its name to the Cootamundra Wattle – the town is abloom in July and August when these trees are in full flower. • The mud edged its way toward the open sea. Sturdy walls melted into cracks between roots that playfully grew in twists and turns. A bird fondled the edge of hardened earth and slipped grass into holes created with its beak. Then flew away, searching for more. A lonesome spider marched across sliding sand and danced upon water dribbles that threatened to wash the soil with change and time. Yet the spider only thought of it as a dance. Sheltered footsteps filled with brown and silver slime and seeds floated to the top to find other galaxies other universes other stars other lifeforms other Gods other spirits other souls other playing fields other seas other soft safe shadows to burrow into, sprout and grow. It was only mud. Only Mud is acrylic on masonite 24”x36”
