roy’s motel, amboy, california, is classic route 66…the place has been closed for quite some time yet looks and feels like it could reopen any minute…there have been plans but, so far, none have come through…it is a little off the beaten path but well worth the effort to visit…

when was the last time you stopped to check the air in your tires…it wasn’t so long ago, everytime you stopped for gas you would make the effort to check your tire pressure…this was the classic design air pump, clanging out the psi as you stooped to fill it just to the right pressure…spotted in springfield, IL on the old route through town just a couple blocks past cozy dog…

A fresh take on the classical painting by Greuze, called “La cruche cassée” (the broken jug). The original painting can be seen in Louvres and is full of symbolism. An original modern Tile Art painting by contemporary artist Mark Lawrence of Alpharetta, Georgia . The Tile Art technique is similar to the grid technique pioneered by modern artist Chuck Close. Each of the “tiles” in this work have been meticulously hand worked in a distinctive method created by the artist. This heavily photoshopped image started life as a photo of an abandoned 1961 AMC Ambassador located on old Route 66, near Newkirk, New Mexico. Only 19,000 total Ambassadors were manufactured in 1961, and those numbers are spread across three body styles. Of the 4-door sedans, not many still exist, making this a rare sight. Pentax K20D, f5.6, 1/750. Pentax SMC 20-50 zoom @ 23mm.
