  • Photo/Model/MUA/Styling: Me It’s okay in the day I’m staying busy / Tied up enough so I don’t have to wonder where is he / Got so sick of crying / So just lately / When I catch myself I do a 180 / I stay up clean the house / At least I’m not drinking / Run around just so I don’t have to think about thinking / That silent sense of content / That everyone gets / Just disappears soon as the sun sets This face in my dreams seizes my guts / He floods me with dread / Soaked in soul / He swims in my eyes by the bed / Pour myself over him / Moon spilling in / And I wake up alone If I was my heart / I’d rather be restless / The second I stop the sleep catches up and I’m breathless / This ache in my chest / As my day is done now / The dark covers me and I cannot run now / My blood running cold / I stand before him / It’s all I can do to assure him / When he comes to me / I drip for him tonight / Drowning in me we bathe under blue light His face in my dreams seizes my guts / He floods me with dread / Soaked in soul / He swims in my eyes by the bed / Pour myself over him / Moon spilling in / And I wake up alone / And I wake up alone / And I wake up alone / And I wake up alone

  • Had a great time in Tassie with Donovan but as is so often the case when exploring new areas it really felt like a reconnaissance trip. Didn’t really get the light I was after and/ or was not in the right place at the right time to take advantage of it when it did happen (like the dawn of this perfect day although I got up at 5:30am I was still below the tree line when the best light was happening). I was also held back a bit by critical gear failures, backpack harness broke, torch died and tent leaked so instead of heading up here the night before, I was in Pine Valley Hut trying to dry my gear next to a pot belly. Next time I reckon I could spend a day or two (weather permitting) just exploring The Acroplis’ rugged plateau. With a rope you could certainly get to some amazing spots. Still had an amazing trip experiencing all four seasons in as many days, snow, sunshine, rain and hail, and it was great getting to know Don a bit better too. The Needles, The Acropolis, Du Cane Range, Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania. Camera: Canon EOS 5D mkII / Lens: EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM @ 18mm / Filter: UV / ISO: 100 / Shutter Speed: 1/10th sec / Aperture: f/16 / WB: auto / Exposure Compensation: -1 and 1/3rd of a stop / When: 10:27pm on 8/4/09 For more Tassie shots check out my Tasmania gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society

  • In ancient Greek mythology Cephissus was a man changed into a sea monster by Apollo. It is also the name of a river in Greece which goes along with the plethora of other Greek nomenclature in the area. I took this shot last school holidays (I’m a teacher) on my trip to the Du Cane Range near Lake St Clair in Tassie with the talented Donovan Wilson . It is only since joining the bub that I have hooked up with other photographers and done shoots with them which has been really enjoyable seeing what others get from the same location. I’ve certainly gained a greater respect for Donovan’s work by shooting with him. The zealot actually lugged up a heavy pair of waders all the way into Pine Valley so he could wander straight up the middle of the rivers there and get perspectives that have in all likelihood never been seen or shot before. Generally I explore the popular parts of an area first and on return trips slowly explore more of the obscure off track locations that capture my attention. On this trip I did pretty much the same while Donovan made a B line for non tracked rivers and ridge lines taking photographs of truly unique locations and views. Certainly gives me a fresh perspective on the efforts he must have gone to get many of the river shots around his beloved and miraculously surviving family home near Marysville. Generally I like to go hiking to get away from everyone and everything to commune with mother nature alone but on this trip far from being the imposition I generally relegate people who have the impertinence to want to travel where I do (tongue firmly in cheek), I actually really enjoyed the company of these like minded walkers on the two nights I spent in the crowded Pine Valley Hut. Inevitably one of the first questions to emerge was the where are you from query and interestingly Donovan would generally say Melbourne rather than Marysville as the topic of conversation after this answer was a given and understandably he is a bit over it and is the reason he came to Tassie. Funnily on the plane trip home we sat next to a love sick Taswegian returning to his Melbourne girl friend who seemed completely unaware of the significance of this place. I certainly respected his decision to get to know people a bit more first before deciding to reveal this fact although I must admit i had to hold myself back on every occasion from blurting this information out. I took this shot on the walk into pine valley hut zoning in on this spot after hearing it from the nearby track. Camera: Canon EOS 5D mkII / Lens: EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM @ 24mm / Filter: UV / ISO: 100 / Shutter Speed: 1.6 sec / Aperture: f/16 / WB: Auto / Exposure Compensation: -1/3rd stop / When: 1:36pm on 5/4/09 For more Tassie shots check out my Tasmania gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society
