San Francisco
the fast paced life of the city captured
This family of 8 is not homeless (though I’m sure they are close to it) The photo was taken in July 2007, the hottest summer I have ever experienced, though probably an annual thing for the locals of Morocco. The family was sleeping on the roof because the days were reaching 45 Celsius, and the nights were not much better. Everyone stayed in the shade during the days and came out at night to go about their business. Even small children were up till 2am. Needless to say, it made my trip exhausting but exciting. Fes or Fez (Arabic فاس [Fās], French Fès) is the third largest city in Morocco, after Casablanca and Rabat, with a population of 946,815 (2004 census). It is the capital of the Fès-Boulemane Region. Fes is one of the four so-called “imperial cities” (the others are Marrakech, Meknes and Rabat). The Medina of Fes el Bali, the largest of the two medinas of Fes, is believed to be the largest contiguous car-free urban area in the world. Fes el Bali is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nelson’s Column and statue of horseman silhouetted against blue and orange evening sky, Trafalgar Square, London, England. Image copyright © 2009 Roberto Herrett.
This group of images come from Fed Square Melbourne 2008. / Taken from a number of light sculpture installations displayed as public art. / I found these facinating, although seemingly wierd looking structures that looked alien in that environment. Light is one of my favourite subjects, the colour and glow the trails, all wonderful.
An extreme capture of times square
Fine art photography print taken with a Holga camera on black and white film.
This is a new style of image of the Royal Exchange in London, England. This image is designed for wall art on print or canvas or as a download and uses HDR technology to show a massive range of colours over this scene. We have night sky lit up purple as well as the bright reds, yellows and greens from the surrounding office buildings. The depth of detail and colour is made possible through combining three images as different exposures and creating this slightly surreal look at the heart of the English capitol.
Parliament Square, London, Engalnd, This is a low light image of the Parliament buildings at Westminster Abbey from Parliament Square in London Engalnd. This photograph is slightly different from the normal images you get of house of commons, it is taken from Parliament Square and we have used a low shutter speed to get this amazing effect of blured lights rushing passed the image. This allows a glimps into the high speed and high stress of life in this area of the city but we are also reminded that urban life is about humans and we have a silhouette of a cyclist passing infront almost left behind by the traffic rushing passed him.
This is a photograph of the front of Buckingham Palace, the main royal palace in the city of London, England. In this photo we have the full front facade against a rich blue sky with a blured black cab rushing past in the foreground. This sums up the outside and tourist view of the city. The British capitol has long been home to and ruled by the Royal Family, now the house of Windsor they are the head of state of both the UK and most Commonwealth nations although today they have no political power they act as ambasadors for the UK and the other countries they are head of state for such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Somewhere between Times Square and 8th Avenue, there’s this slice of urban jungle art beauty that harkens from the past, illuminated by the future…
Trafalgar Square London, from St Martins Lane Hotel.
I lived in the UK for over twelve years and spent most of that time in London. I dwelled there during the change of millennium witnessing the great celebration that took place in the form of a revolutionary, state of the art architecture. I have seen the transformation of an old power station into the awesome Tate Modern, the erection of the Millennium Wheel, the building of the Millennium Bridge and the controversial Millennium Dome, the Hungerford Railway & Pedestrian Bridge, the London Gherkin – the new Sir Norman Foster Swiss Bank Building-, other buildings and monuments. It’s in London that I took up photography following a course based in the States and it’s London that inspired me to become an artist photographer. The magic atmosphere of its huge parks, the imposing buildings, either historical or modern, the contrast between building styles, sometimes placed next to each other, the eccentric markets, i.e. Camden Lock and Stables, Portobello, Brick Lane etc., the street performers in Covent Garden, the classic black cabs and red double decker busses (almost extinct now), the theaters and the many other things – impossible to mention all – , provided me with enough inspirational material to make me feel I could spend all my life producing work based on this city alone! / More images may be viewed on my site: www.aldocervato.com . Medium: Black and White film mostly Kodak Tri-x, 35mm and 120 medium format.
