PLEASE VIEW LARGE..XOX I made this piece in lieu of this video, What goes around…comes Around. I love Justin Timberlake.. I think he is totally hot and a very good singer. I grew up ghetto. That is to say I was not a rocker till late in life, in my 20’s. I grew up on soul music and the music my brother brought home which I am so happy to say was a wondrous mix of soul, rock and jazz. I remember this way of life, city life. Oh what drama! There was much pain and so much living on the edge. I was thinking tonight that I do not miss these feelings at all. I do not miss the sensual gratification from needing so much outside me to make me, me! / A man, clothes, car, right job or a smile to die for where always on a list of concerns that if I had most or all of these elements that indeed I would finally be happy. I never thought I would say this out loud but I like growing old, because for me old is so New! A totally new way of living! I like this affair I am having with me… And now of course Mr. Mac and me. This is not to say that a mate or a new wardrobe, or a new car, well I do have a car I love and a job that I call art now, but would love to see some real living type dollars come in; or to feel and be around all the smiles I dare to die for, is still not on the ‘I Desire’ list, cause they are. It is that in the meantime, I remain as productive and as ‘happy’ as if all these desires where indeed already done! Do I miss my youth? Well I wonder if I still had all the shaken stuff in perfect order, would I allow myself the feelings I have now. Is there a bit that has let go of the need to be ‘hot’ top priority and in exchange allowed this sense of well being to exist with out all the ‘I Gotta Haves’. Growing ‘old’ for me does not mean I resign or break down or even retire. I think the word ‘Old’ could be exchanged for ‘UP ‘. This is the most exciting time I have ever experienced! I have never felt so close to the Essence of who I really am…Eternal and Free. This beautiful temple, which I still love and want to take care of, is amazing, but I am not the girl in this video anymore. Maybe you could say the only regret I have of growing older as I embrace the belief of my unlimited nature and well being in my body, is that in my youth there was no such dance call ‘hip hop dancing’. Oh dang, how I love to think of my life as a dancer! I am also beginning to understand that there is no death, so life is never finished and it is never done. My desire for dancing like a kid in their teens is on my eternal list.. so I guess there is time…. tee hee..XOX!

My entry for the London Calling challenge. I found this difficult as I’ve never been to London to get a real ‘feel’ for the place, but here’s my two-cents worth: I have given a big nod towards graffiti/street art with the general style of the piece (line work, spray marks and drips) the London skyline gets a look in I couldn’t resist the CCTV camera robot (paranoid android?) with London having over 100 000 cameras throughout the city and finally I’ve included a large rain cloud in reference to the grey, overcast and generally miserable weather. I can’t decide on a colour – according to the challenge we should have one colour option for the shirt – so feel free to let me know what colour you think works best :) Detail: /

I wished my 350D had see-through capability. Now the mountains that beseige this spectacular city make this shot look like it’s in a bowl. It costed us HKD15 to get on the platform to get this view. Whatever happened to the free stuff in this world nowadays? / - – - / Taken at the Peak, Hong Kong. It felt like 5C up there, I swear. / / MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /

So I know there’s gotta be other people out there excited about the release of the new Batman Movie The Dark Knight, or is it just me? This is a tribute to possibly one of my favourite movies! This is also one of my first really serious attempts at creating some digital artwork in Photoshop. This is the result of me having a lot of time, sitting at home sick when I should be at work. The question is can you see Batman?? For this I started off with one of my pics of Melbourne, Australia from Southbank which was a HDR from 3 exposures. I then added in bats, flood lights, batman, the moon etc. and then once again a lot of tinkering in Lightroom to finetune :) Click here for my other images of Melbourne

Melbourne City after twilight from Princes Bridge. / Viewed from Southbank on the Yarra River 1.5hrs after sunset. Melbourne is a very pretty city at night with lots of memorable locations. / 30D, 24-70L,mirror lock-up+timer,24mm, 1/15th, f/11,iso100. I’d left my tripod at home so ended up balancing the camera and propping the lens with a Malteeses choclate box. made from two photo’s, one shot above and then another below to capture the view and also to boost detail for print.

I missed a fantastic sunset, and an incredibly intense lightning storm. By the time I got to my chosen vantage point, I was left with the remnants of both. © Sara Lamond 2007.
