Fire hydrant or fire plug, is an active source of water provided in most urban, suburban and rural areas with municipal water service to enable firefighters to tap into the municipal water supply to assist in extinguishing a fire. A hose is attached to the fire hydrant, then the valve is opened to provide a powerful source of water.Care should be taken not to open or close a fire hydrant too quickly, as this can create a water hammer which can damage nearby pipes and equipment.

When I worked in Melbourne I could see the Nylex Clock out the window of the 5th floor everyday. All Melbournians know and love the Nylex Clock!! I’m sad that I couldn’t get the top of the nylex clock in the shot but I didn’t have a choice – I still like it for what it is. I really quite like the perspective of being on the road. I’m very much in love with my city of Melbourne. Every time I go into the city I’m entranced by it. This photo was taken while travelling on the citylink. I LOVE MELBOURNE. / .

As my hordes of adoring fans know I like to make art from unpromising subjects. We all take road signs very seriously (obviously) so I thought its time to have some fun with them. Landscapes of Provence make me yawn… and just how many pictures of sunflowers can you look at without.. falling into a coma. I want to tell you about the universal language of.. of.. / ..traffic management. I reached a point where I thought.. “time to tidy up the edges” and then I thought.. naaa.. everyone does that. During the research for this image I got caught on a speed camera and drove through a set of lights on red. I suspect it might be a short series.

Kilcona Park is on the Northeast corner of The City of Winnipeg MB. I think this make a great photo for the Human & Nature Group not only because it has man-made things mixed with nature, but also because Kilcona Park is a retired landfill site turned back to nature. / Photo as is from my Canon Rebel XT(DSLR). / Taken on May 18th, 2009.
