Although the Louisville Cardinals is the home town college basketball team in Louisville, Kentucky USA, people are so rabid insane about University of Kentucky (located in Lexington Kentucky USA) that anyone wearing the Cardinal red colors (in stead of Wildcat blue) always get a second look. They say that in Kentucky, University of Kentucky Wildcats isn’t just about basketball, it’s a religion. Dare to wear red in a black and white world. / MCN:C27-LA6O-1752 LIMITED EDITION PRINTS CLICK HERE The red penguins along the building are some marketing tactic for the art gallery housed in the building. © 2008 All Rights Reserved

I missed a fantastic sunset, and an incredibly intense lightning storm. By the time I got to my chosen vantage point, I was left with the remnants of both. © Sara Lamond 2007. I love shooting at night, and generally am out alone when I’m shooting – it’s when I produce my best work (in my mind anyway). / / This is one of my favorite places in the city. You can sit here alone for hours, traffic streaming past, only the occasional pedestrian, while hundreds, or even thousands of people are just a few feet below. It’s both a quiet spot to find refuge, and a place that symbolizes the loneliness and isolation that can be experienced in a city of millions. © Sara Lamond 2007. A difficult dichotomy. This image is about the search and struggle for identity of the individual, and of the Chinese Nation as a whole. Having (relatively recently) opened their doors to the world, and seemingly having embraced western notions of capitalism and individualism in an attempt to ‘modernise’, still maintain a staunch communist political idealism, with demanding expectations placed upon those living under it’s rule.

The transcendental art of fire dancing, combined with a backdrop of stark, urban-industrial desolation. / The background represents the state of one’s life (like the inside of their mind) and the subject twirling fire represents the transmuting of this apathy of existence into the realization that there is so much more to life and the Universe than what is going on in their head.
