This is the first in a series of explorations into The Lost City theme. Symbolic representations of my own life. Collage of various extractions from my photos and worked in Photoshop.
Had to travel to Adelaide for work, was trapped inside all day, though managed to escape for about 30 minutes but being in the city this is as close to seeing the sunset as I got.
I missed a fantastic sunset, and an incredibly intense lightning storm. By the time I got to my chosen vantage point, I was left with the remnants of both. © Sara Lamond 2007. The buildings are a photo taken of Sydney while I was on a ferry. I think turned them into an illustration ofcourse.

Central Park, NYC
I was coming home yesterday from an appointment downtown, / and happened to look over and see this place. It was completely / abandoned, along with garages, a barn and cars. Didn’t go in, (yet..heh) but I got a few good shots from the front. I added the flood..(to go with the title.) / / CS3/Corel/handheld/Samsung/HDR / I can’t even begin to list all of the things I did to this. / One filter conversion to the next applying and painting certain areas with the saturation brush, then repeating the process + / overlays & more fine tuning! Thanks for checking it out. :) / / / Special thanks to Kevin Kroeker for being a major inspiration with HDR. You can check out some of his truly amazing HDR work here: click me!

I think we could all use a giant orange monster to ride around the city at night
I was back up at the Bunkyou Civic Centre yesterday, this time with one of my students. The sunset was extraordinary. It was impossible to control the lens-flare as I was shooting straight into the sun for this shot. Five-shot bracketed HDR with very little done to the colour. This is pretty much, apart from a bit of a shift in the tonal contrast, what the scene looked like through the lens. Nikon D300 / Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 ED / 5-frame bracketed burst merged in Photomatix 2.5.4
Here is a tshirt version of the print A Boy and His Monster I simplified the colours a fair bit in hope that it would improve the print quality on the tee. There is also a black and white version.
