I was playing around with a sunset photo I had taken, when I got the idea for a planet similar to Earth, populated with humanoid type creatures who find something to grumble about regardless of the situation. Their conversation might go something like: I can’t believe it Zhrikplatth, that’s the third time this Dasnuba that the skyhop has been late. Keep your veins in, Krryp, at least we can enjoy another methane sunset while we wait.

Shot in January in the city of Aarhus. The name of the street (slash river) is Åboulevarden, in case anyone ever visits Denmark and happens to be in Aarhus ; ) And yes, it’s made from two exposure – I wasn’t THAT lucky with the sky!

Well this is the shot that made it into the 2008 channel ten weather calendar, so I’m pretty proud of that.Getting this into the calendar was my first… ‘public’ recognition of my work so this is a pretty special shot to me. it is lightning over Adelaide looking down from Mount Osmond. It was taken in December 2006 and featured on the following nights news broadcast.

The Holy City of Varanasi on the Ganges River, Uttar Pradesh, India. / Varanasi is one of the oldest living cities in the world. / Towards the middle of the picture, you can see the smoke and flames of the funeral pyres. Hindus are cremated here, and their ashes are returned to the holy river, believed to end the cycle of birth and rebirth. / Varanasi is the most Indian of Indian cities.

Angled shot taken inside the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool. Really enjoy finding new angles and views within this building and its a great place to practice my photography. / . / Spent a lot of time with the position and cropping of this image to produce the desired look. / . / Your comments always help. / . / ste / . / Location: The Lady Chapel / . / The first part of the Cathedral to be completed and consecrated for worship was the Lady Chapel. The style of this lovely Chapel, which stands at the far south east corner of the Cathedral, is more elaborate than the main body of the Cathedral in a way which reflects its date and the influence of G F Bodley who was, at that time, working with the Cathedral architect.

BEST VIEWED LARGER This shot taken from MIlsons Point directly under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the lights and skyline of the city on the opposite shore. Taken around midnight the waters of Sydney are lit with colours of the rainbow. For visitors to Sydney , you can walk across to Milsons point, or catch train trip to Milson’s Point station. This shot was taken with no filters with a Nikon D300 and Nikon 18-200mm lens securely mounted on a Manfrotto Tripod, using three bracketed exposures which were then processed using Photomatix HDR Software. MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER / 190 Comments,125 Favourites, 2956 Views / Sydney is great for sunrises, it quite often receives spectacular sunrises as it greets the sunrises that appear from the east. This shot shows the city skyline as seen from North Sydney CBD on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, in the foreground is Lavender Bay. Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted images processed with Photomatix Pro with avery slight adjustment (sharpening & contrast) in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 , Nikon 18-200mm lens No filters or colour adjustment 1) RED SKY AT NIGHT… means that as the sun sets in the west, if it has a red hue or color to it, then the moisture was further west of their location. Thus SAILORS DELIGHT. A beautiful sunset. 2) RED SKY IN MORN…means that as the sunlight from the rising sun passes through moisture, it too will be red. This means that with the rotation of the earth, this will bring this moisture (and possible storm) right on top of them and it is only a few hours away. SO SAILORS TAKE WARN.” / I hope this bit of weather science helps.

Equipment : Nikon D300, Handheld, Nikon 18-200mm lens / Technique: 5 bracketted images processed in Photomatix with a slight tidy in Capture NX

Nevada City is an amazing place, but you have to be there early to get the place to yourself ! We got lucky, it was ‘off’ season and consequently very quiet , combined with a beautiful morning. / There were so many things to photograph, you could spend a whole lot of time there, but we were headed for Yellowstone, so time was limited sadly. Along with Bodie, California, this is a place I would happily return to time and time again …....... if only !! Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, polarising filter attached, and mounted on a tripod. Canon 18-55mm kit lens / f22, 1/10 sec, underexposed by half a stop, iso 100. Cloudy WB. / I processed a single RAW file in Photomatix, HDR.
