My entry for the London Calling challenge. I found this difficult as I’ve never been to London to get a real ‘feel’ for the place, but here’s my two-cents worth: I have given a big nod towards graffiti/street art with the general style of the piece (line work, spray marks and drips) the London skyline gets a look in I couldn’t resist the CCTV camera robot (paranoid android?) with London having over 100 000 cameras throughout the city and finally I’ve included a large rain cloud in reference to the grey, overcast and generally miserable weather. I can’t decide on a colour – according to the challenge we should have one colour option for the shirt – so feel free to let me know what colour you think works best :) Detail: /

After I demonstrated a few wave painting techniques, I later thought to join them up into a painting! A Spontaneous watercolour! Watercolour 14” x 10” on Bockingford rough 140lb. So far, nobody has spotted the little men in white shirts, clinging for life, to the torn-off mast (left side of painting). I’ve entered this into Impressionism Cafe,‘seascapes’

Is this our future? Selfridges Building. Birmingham, UK / June 2009 The Selfridges Building is part of the Bull Ring redevelopment in Birmingham, England and was designed by the architectural practice Future Systems. Opened in 2003, the store is clad in 15,000 shiny aluminium discs and was inspired by a Paco Rabanne sequinned dress.

this is a combination manip/painting / I’ve been working on this for a couple of weeks – a little each night. I tried to add a lot more depth and light from the wet street. More shadows too….I wanted it to be modern – yet at the same time, have a long ago feeling. Does that make sense? / I didn’t want it completely straight either – meaning I wanted a tad of the impressionistic style. I got tired at the end – and my brush strokes got a bit sloppy at the top…but I went back and tried to make it better. I made this for a fried of mine who loves England…. / (a birthday present). Through my cyber travels i have come across many photographers work that has been stolen and used without their knowledge / And just recently i have found a site that tracks back photos and shows where they are being used on the net / http://tineye.com/ / you simply enter the image address (URL) or choose an image from your HD and the site looks for it in their archives / it even works for images that have been cropped after being stolen or partially photoshopped this is a good example / http://tineye.com/search/0ac89241ed4c8ccd104094f6412ded2e0acfc2d7 / The original is the profile pic of someone who friend requested me on Facebook as something seemed odd/funny about it I put the image through Tineye.com / and you can see the results Another image site which you might like (if you use flickr) is / http://clipyourphotos.com/FP / they serch through the Flickr Front page history for your photos that might have been featured there that you missed any way I hope these are useful for people Cheers Richard
