  • One of a kind event…I was lucky to be out that morning and to actually saw it. The shadow was cast when fog only occured on the western side of the CBD. So i came around and took this. The morning sun hit the tower and cast shadow on to the fog. AMP tower is the tallest viewing platform in Sydney.

  • This shot was taken at Dawn from the building I work in it shows the Spire of St Francis Xavier Church at Lavender Bay in the North Sydney CBD. The Sydney Harbour Bridge links the North Sydney CBD with the Sydney CBD. There has been a church on the site since the early days of the settlement of the colony of Sydney Town. The shot was taken using a Nikon D300, Nikon 18 – 200mm lens , for any Nikononians the 18-200mm lens is wonderful it comes in handy as a all purose lens. The shot was created from 4 exposures and processed with Photomatix HDR software. So continues my exploration of HDR.. its fun

  • What’s left of a wooden dock stands at attention to meet the morning over Long Island Sound.

  • Brisbane, Au near Kangaroo point, at 4:42am / Taken 11/01/2009 This was a very spontaneous photo shoot…my husband woke up at 3am and out of the blue wakes me up saying, lets go take pics of the city pre dawn! / so sleepy eyed me agreed and off we went! this was one of many *safety note: / Please do not attempt this without proper safety precautions, knowlege of tide times and being in limber physical condition. / The sides are very slick and the climb up is over 8 feet with the initial point at the bottom being without footholds another note also, when the city cat or other boats are passing by, be prepared to leave quickly, as a wall of water will rush at you quite rapidly! • MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER / 190 Comments,125 Favourites, 2956 Views / Sydney is great for sunrises, it quite often receives spectacular sunrises as it greets the sunrises that appear from the east. This shot shows the city skyline as seen from North Sydney CBD on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, in the foreground is Lavender Bay. Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted images processed with Photomatix Pro with avery slight adjustment (sharpening & contrast) in Capture NX. Equipment: Nikon D300 , Nikon 18-200mm lens No filters or colour adjustment 1) RED SKY AT NIGHT… means that as the sun sets in the west, if it has a red hue or color to it, then the moisture was further west of their location. Thus SAILORS DELIGHT. A beautiful sunset. 2) RED SKY IN MORN…means that as the sunlight from the rising sun passes through moisture, it too will be red. This means that with the rotation of the earth, this will bring this moisture (and possible storm) right on top of them and it is only a few hours away. SO SAILORS TAKE WARN.” / I hope this bit of weather science helps.
