Backlit plants taken at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta many years ago. / Don’t know why, but this has always been my all-time favorite….. / Hope you like it as well.
This is a companion piece to Alien research base…a grand citadel design to be more of a blended piece of art ,rather than a typical constuct.Pencil, pen and Marker maketh the drawing

This photo was taken in my last trip to Egypt “cairo”. This is a historical mosque belongs to Mohammed-ali-basha. This mosque is located in “The Citadel/ Al-Qalaa” which was built by Salah Ad-Din during 1176. The Citadel is one of the most popular sightseeing in Cairo Egypt and one of the most visited areas in the city. It is now the museum that offers the best collections and impressive views of Cairo. / ___________ Featured in the featured art gallery. Featured in the group Islamic Beauty. ______
Another detail view of the famous Inca citadel – Machu Picchu, Peru. This view overlooks the modern day town of Aguas Calientes/Pueblo Machu Picchu, nested far below in the valley on the banks of the Urubamba River, one of the major tributaries of the upper Amazon. The terraces in the background are each approximately 2 metres high, the steep drop-off into the valley below impresses just how easily defended the site would have been (the invading Spanish never found it, rather, it was abandoned after the Inca civilisation collapsed). In many places, the terraces fall away into chasms several hundred metres deep. Machu Picchu, Peru
Peru’s capital, Lima, is littered with ruins of civilisations that preceded the conquistadors, and not all of these are of Incan origin, though at the time of the Spanish conquest, they had been occupied or overun by the Incan empire. This one, Puruchuco, is nested at the base of a stony mountain on the eastern flank of the city. The remnants of an Incan fortress stand at the top of the mountain, high above these restored buildings. The complex is relatively small by Peruvian standards, but there are still numerous narrow stone alleys that open into darkened rooms, sprawling plazas, or end suddenly.
A child climbs on an ancient statue outside the walls of the Citadel in Irbil, Iraq. Located up north, this relatively autonomous city consists mostly of Kurdish descendants, making it almost impervious to the perils of the war-torn southern half of the country. The Citadel was built on the highest point in the area and was primarily used to protect the city and its inhabitants from foreign invaders. Taken with Nikon D200 Irbil, Iraq Circa 2005
street in Sighisoara, Romania, the only enhabited medieval citadel in Europe…
The Citadel is in the centre of Gozo, Malta’s sister island. The small fortified town is situated on a promontory sited over the town of Victoria. This vantage point was obviously chosen because it was a naturally fortified hill which dominated the surrounding countryside. The Citadel is documented to have thrived up to the 16th Century, and included a densely packed urban settlement. When the Knights of St. John came to Malta, they continued to use the citadel as a place of shelter for the population in times of trouble. Military developments in the 16th Century resulted in its transformation into a purely military outpost. In fact the architectural heritage of the Citadel, as it stands today, is made up almost entirely of military structures.
Years after the end of the war crimes trials of 4567, small pockets of fighters were found in remote parts of the universe, and word of the wars end had not yet reached small pockets of warriors. / Of course when a war as lasted for just over 2000 years, there are bound to be holdouts. / One such faction was led by the Klee Berserker, Anold Killraven. / But the thing with Anold, it knew the war had ended, but decided it would continue its conquest and genocidal cleansing of its enemies the Glare. A wing of special peacekeepers was programed to seek out and capture Killraven, / it took many years but once programed the wing would not fail. / Sure enough the outlaw Berserker was finally taken on Kronn’s World. Then of course after the trial, where the verdict was never in doubt, the sentence was 6 lifetimes in solitary darkness. The Klee live for up to 5 lifetimes, but they wanted to make sure, you just never know with the Klee. Then another problem arose, where to keep it, the Klee also have the ability to teleport their “bodies” short distances, after much thought, and huge amounts of credits from the Glare, one of the smaller moons of Saturn was terra-formed and a prison built just to hold Anold Killraven. Here we see one of the very rare images of the “Citadel”, it is 245 levels high, with 245 levels below sea level, it contains 245,000 identical rooms, each is 10 feet square with a door in each wall, every single room is exactly the same as the one where Killraven is kept.. At the very center is a 10’ square room where Anold resides. Everything is beamed in to it, there is no communication between the prisoner.A long time of silence to be sure. The only problem I see, is, if you can’t see it, and you don’t talk with it, ....................how do you know its still there!!

Huge inner hanging lamp. I just lay down below this huge lamp (in the middle of the mosque) and took it. CITADEL, Egypt. The mosque was built on the site of old Mamluk buildings in Cairo’s Citadel between 1830 and 1848, although not completed until the reign of Said Pasha in 1857. The architect was Yusuf Bushnak from Istanbul and its model was the Yeni Mosque1 in that city. The ground on which the mosque was erected was built with debris from the earlier buildings of the Citadel. Before completion of the mosque, the alabaster panels from the upper walls were taken away and used for the palaces of Abbas I. The stripped walls were clad with wood painted to look like marble. In 1899 the mosque showed signs of cracking and some inadequate repairs were undertaken. But the condition of the mosque became so dangerous that a complete scheme of restoration was ordered by King Fuad in 1931 and was finally completed under King Farouk in 1939. Muhammad Ali Pasha was buried in a tomb carved from Carrara marble, in the courtyard of the mosque. His body was transferred here from Hawsh al-Basha in 1857. This is part of the outside walls of the Citadel of Mycenae, in Eastern Peloponnese, Greece. This sally-port was added to the citadel around 1250 BC as an observation post through the citadel walls. The French town of Blaye is located on the right bank of the Gironde estuary and has a citadel built by Vauban on the cliffs beside the river and includes ancient ruins of an old Gothic château. The latter contains the tomb of Charibert II, king of Aquitaine, and son of Clotaire II. Blaye is also defended by the Fort Paté on an island in the river and the Fort Médoc on its left bank, both of the 17th century. The citadelle of Blaye, its city walls, the Fort Paté and the Fort Médoc (the latter in nearby Cussac-Fort-Médoc) were listed in 2008 as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as part of the “Fortifications of Vauban” group. The old citadel (Palaio Frourio, literally: Old Fortress (Παλαιό Φρούριο)) stands atop a rocky island on the east side of Corfu Town on the beautiful Greek Island of Corfu. Fortifications were built on this site as early as the 6th century although the majority of what is left today is from the Venetian rule during the 14th century and later the English rule during the mid 1800s. The site was initially a peninsula but the Venetians dug a moat to convert it into an island for greater security. The Fort is quite extensive and has expansive views of the town and the incredibly clear water in Garitsa Bay. A lighthouse stands at the highest point in the Fortress and along the way is the Church of Ayios Georgios. Although the Church was built during English rule as a military Anglican church in the 1800s it looks more like an ancient temple with its six Doric columns. The interior is filled with wall and ceiling frescoes. Corfu is the most northerly of the Grecian Ionian Islands. It is a green and beautiful place where the pace of life is not too taxing. I decided to turn a few of the pics I had published (see here) into pieces for the folio. This is the rear view of Notre Dame, Paris, capital of France. This cathedral resembles a neo gothic castle from this view. I wanted to give this one a historic look, but it has taken on a more fairy tale appearance. I love it when the piece takes over and creates itself! Textures from www.deviantart.com free use stock.
